Fans of fighting games have been given a few more days to claim Divine Knockout on Steam despite the store page stating that the promotion ended this past Wednesday. Divine Knockout has shown itself to be a well-balanced and low-pressure fighting game, and the giveaway makes it easy for friends to get together for a new challenge.
Divine Knockout is a 3D brawler that is best described as Super Smash Bros. In a circular arena, although there is plenty more that sets the game apart from its peers. Gameplay generally involves landing repeated hits on enemy players in order to fling them off the arena, Smash-style in 3v3, 2v2, and 1v1 bouts. A wide range of mythological characters is available with distinctive fighting styles including Hercules, Thor, Athena, and Amaterasu. A solid variety of playstyles are represented, such as Sol who uses the power of the sun to hurl fireballs at opponents and has strong airborne mobility, while Amaterasu specializes in keeping up the pressure with agility and a quick blade.
A recent promotion made Divine Knockout free to claim on Steam until December 14th, though now it looks like gamers will have until the 19th to add the game to their Steam libraries. To claim Divine Knockout for free, simply visit the Divine Knockout store page either on Steam's website or through the Steam client and click the green "Play Game" button. For those who want to support the game with something extra, the Standard Founder's Pack and Ultimate Founder's Pack unlock more items like a special profile card, character skins, titles, and immediate access to more Gods.
While the Founders Packs are a quick way to unlock one's favorite Divine Knockout characters, they can also be unlocked eventually for free in-game by earning God Tokens that are acquired when the player levels up. The game's premium currency, Runes, can also be used to purchase Gods and the Rune price was recently lowered in an update due to player feedback. One of the main concerns from players has been the game's monetization and progression systems, which may need some more ironing out during this early phase to cut back on the grind.
Divine Knockout is published by Hi-Rez Studios, which also publishes high-profile multiplayer games like Smite, Paladins, Realm Royale, and Rogue Company. Prior games from Hi-Rez started out with a price tag for an early "Founder's Season" before eventually going free-to-play, so patient gamers who miss out on this promotion may want to wait a few months to see if Divine Knockout follows this practice.
Divine Knockout is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
