Artefacts of the Tyrant is a side quest in Divinity: Original Sin 2 where players are tasked with gathering five cursed pieces of equipment: the Heart of the Tyrant (chest), the Tyrant’s Stride (leg), Tracks of the Tyrant (boots), Tyrant’s Helm (head), and Hands of the Tyrant (gloves). Individually, all five pieces of the Tyrant’s Set are cursed, and the only way to nullify the curses is to wear all of them together.

However, the Artefacts of the Tyrant quest does not provide any clues about the whereabouts of the Tyrant’s Set, and since all the pieces are found in different areas of Fort Joy in Act 1, players can only search the entire map slowly to find them all. This guide covers the exact location of all five Tyrant’s Set pieces, as well as how to get them. Here’s the breakdown.

All Artefacts of the Tyrant Locations in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Tyrant’s Set in DOS2

tyrant set in Divinity_ Original Sin 2 dos2

There are five pieces of the Tyrant’s Set in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

  • Heart of the Tyrant
  • Tyrant’s Stride
  • Tracks of the Tyrant
  • Tyrant’s Helm
  • Hands of the Tyrant

When a character equips the complete Tyrant's Set, all curses from the five pieces are removed for as long as all of them remain equipped.

The Band of Braccus is not part of the Tyrant’s Set, and the curse on that ring will not be removed when the complete Tyrant’s Set is worn by a character.

Heart of the Tyrant Location in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Where to Find Heart of the Tyrant in DOS2

The Heart of the Tyrant can be found in the treasure room in the Deep Cavern (X:513, Y:76) in Divinity: Original Sin 2. The entrance to the Deep Cavern is located between the Winter Dragon Slane’s icy field and the Sanctuary of Amadia.

The treasure room where the Heart of the Tyrant is located is at the very end of this dungeon. To get there, follow the route shown above. You’ll be ambushed by Trompdoy twice and will have to solve the Statue’s puzzle to continue through the cavern. The answers to the statue’s questions are:

  • Finish the sentence with “very awful, rotten.”
  • A hex, a misery, a blight, a curse.

After you defeat Trompdoy’s illusions the second time, you’ll find the treasure room where the Heart of the Tyrant is sitting inside a burning brazier.

Tyrant’s Stride Location in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Where to Find Tyrant’s Stride in DOS2

The Tyrant’s Stride can be found by interacting with the statue in the Ancient Passage with 15+ Wits in Divinity: Original Sin 2. The Ancient Passage is a hidden location underneath the Fort Joy Prison that can only be accessed during Withermoore’s Soul Jar questline.

A detailed step-by-step guide on Withermoore’s Soul Jar quest in DOS2 can be found here.

  1. Play hide and seek with Mody in the Caverns (south of Griff’s camp), then dig up the dirt mound when Mody invites you to “meet a friend” to talk to Withermoore. Take out the spear impaling him to the wall to start the quest.
  2. Interact with the Shrine of the Seven next to the Fort Joy - Square Waypoint to find the hidden switch that leads into the Holding Cells.
  3. Steal the Prison Key from the stool next to the Magister Houndmaster at the far end of the Holding Cells to unlock the door that leads to the main Fort Joy Prison.
  4. Find the stone altar with the candles in Fort Joy Prison (opposite the Source Hound room), and activate the lever nearby to access the Ancient Passage.
  5. Use the Vases to block the poison gas vents and climb the ladder on the left to find a stone statue in an alcove.
  6. Interact with the statue with a character that has 15+ Wits to obtain the Tyrant’s Stride.

You can artificially increase a character’s score in Wits by using a Peace of Mind Scroll, the Encourage skill, or Wits-enhancing equipment.

Tracks of the Tyrant Location in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Where to Find Tracks of the Tyrant in DOS2

The Tracks of the Tyrant can be found inside a tall, broken tower northwest of the Hollow Marshes - Ruined Castle Waypoint (X:427, Y:299) in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Use the route shown in the map above to find the tower.

Use the Teleportation Skill to transport a character inside the thundercloud inside the tower. Loot Lorenzo to find the Tracks of the Tyrant. After looting the other body and picking up the special arrows on the ground, interact with the vines on the side of the broken tower to return to the ground.

The Teleportation Skill can be acquired easily by equipping the Gloves of Teleportation, which can be looted from the Saltwater Crocodiles on the beach east of Fort Joy.

Tyrant’s Helm Location in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Where to Find Tyrant’s Helm in DOS2

The Tyrant’s Helm can be found at the Shrine of Braccus Rex inside the Decrepit Ruins (X:469, Y:238) in Divinity: Original Sin 2. The Decrepit Ruins can be accessed via the Metal Gate in the courtyard just south of the Hollow Marshes - Ruined Castle Waypoint. On the map, this location is marked by a yellow flag for “Braccus’ Armory.”

  1. Inside the Decrepit Ruins, interact with the Source Fountain to obtain Source, then use the Bless skill to remove the curse from the lever next to the main door to open it.
  2. Have a character who has a Source Point available interact with the Shrine of Braccus Rex, and use the power of the Source (in dialogue) to activate the shrine.
  3. The Corrupted Tyrant’s Helm will drop from the shrine.

Only a character who has a Source Point available for use can activate the Shrine of Braccus Rex and obtain the Tyrant’s Helm. Use the Source Fountain in the previous room if you do not have it.

Since Bless is required to open the door to the shrine, the Tyrant’s Helm can only be obtained after you’ve removed your Source Collars and have acquired the Bless Source Skill from the Hall of Echoes.

The Hands of the Tyrant Location in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Where to Find The Hands of the Tyrant in DOS2

The Hands of the Tyrant can be found inside Braccus Rex’s Tower (X: 571, Y:67), located at the end of the Gargoyle’s Maze in Divinity: Original Sin 2. To get to the tower, you will have to go through the maze.

Equipping the Band of Braccus upon first entering the maze and talking to the Gargoyle Guardian will let you skip the maze entirely and be teleported directly in front of the tower entrance.

Inside Braccus Rex’s Tower, you’ll find three Necromancer undead playing cards on a table nearby. Either persuade or defeat these undead to get the Filthy Iron Key to open the locked door nearby.

The undead necromancers cannot be killed and will revive indefinitely. The only way to get rid of them permanently is to break their Soul Jars (found in the treasure room in the Dark Caverns, where you found the Heart of the Tyrant).

Here, you’ll find a glowing blue forcefield barrier blocking the entrance to a large doorway. Look for a small interactable device right in front of the barrier and interact with it. If you completed Withermoore’s Soul Jar quest and destroyed the Soul Jar beforehand, Withermoore will show up and offer to help you remove the barrier to open the path. Alternatively, if one of your characters has a Source Point, they can use it at the barrier device to open it as well.

Once the barrier is lifted, enter the chamber, and you’ll find two coffins side by side. Use a character with 18+ Strength to interact with the coffin on the right, and the Hands of the Tyrant will drop out.
