  • Larian Studios has denied rumors of Divinity: Original Sin 3 being its next project.
  • The studio's Twitter handle was briefly changed to "@divinity," but Larian clarified that this was done to protect its IP.
  • Despite the denial, it's possible that Larian may still be working on Divinity: Original Sin 3.

Larian Studios has recently denied that a change in a Twitter handle proved that Divinity: Original Sin 3 was the developer’s next project. Many Divinity: Original Sin fans were excited after Larian Studios briefly changed its Twitter handle to “@divinity,” but it seems that this was not a confirmation that the eagerly awaited title was in development.

After the release of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian became one of the most prominent RPG developers in the gaming industry. Not only did BG3 sell over 15 million copies, it also won many awards, becoming one of the highest-rated games of the decade. So, many were surprised when Larian confirmed that it would not develop a Baldur’s Gate 3 sequel, and since then, fans have speculated about the studio’s next projects.

Divinity Original Sin 2 has tons of weapons for players to chose from. These are the best of the bunch.

Now, Larian Studios' publishing director, Michael Douse, has addressed the rumors that pointed out Divinity: Original Sin 3’s existence. According to Douse, changing the handle was just part of the process to “take stock of what we own,” as the Divinity series did not have an official handle on Twitter. To prevent people from using these handles as a way to scam gamers, Twitter has transferred the handles to the studio. However, an error made the system change the main account’s handle to @divinity.

Larian Studios Denies It Leaked Divinity: Original Sin 3's Existence

Despite Douse’s explanation of what happened, it’s still quite possible that Divinity: Original Sin 3 is one of Larian’s next games. Released in 2017, Original Sin 2 was a big hit, and it seems natural that the studio will develop a proper sequel for it eventually, especially when considering how often Larian has released games set in the Divinity universe.

Earlier this year, Larian Studios reconfirmed it was developing two games after the last major Baldur’s Gate 3 patch was released. Larian boss Swen Vincke said at the time that the first of these projects is already shaping up very well, and it’s “crazy ambitious.” None of these games have been properly announced, though, so it’s still unknown whether they will be part of the Divinity IP.

2025 is a time of expansion for the increasingly large studio. Larian also recently confirmed that it was opening up an entirely new department that would focus on storytelling. At the time, Douse was looking for talented workers for the new department, which would be based in Guildford, England. Apart from that, Larian also opened up a new studio in Warsaw, which will aid in the development of games.
