The Division 2 is currently in the midst of its private beta test, open to pre-order holders and their friends. And, as befits these types of tests, The Division 2 Beta is not without its issues. Unfortunately, one of those issues has proven to be quite a frustration to players. Ubisoft has acknowledged a "High Priority" issue which appears to be causing consistent game crashes on PC and Xbox, as well as performance degradation on PS4.

Speculated to be a memory leak, the issue currently has no solution. For now, Ubisoft recommends The Division 2 Beta players manually reset the game every two to three hours. While resetting the game is ultimately similar to just dealing with the crashes, it should allow the player to avoid untimely crashes. The Division 2 Beta shouldn't be crashing earlier than that, so players should be comfortable playing for at least two hours without worrying they'll lose any progress.

Ubisoft acknowledges the existence of this crash in the beta test, but doesn't seem able to commit to a fix during the beta. The update provided from Ubisoft insists the issue "will be fixed," but that fix may only be ready for the full game launch in March.

The memory leak crash isn't the only "Priority Issue" in The Division 2 Beta, unfortunately. A second issue is affecting all platforms and is related to the beta's invite system. If a player is currently not in-game but receives an invite from a friend (whether or not it's accepted isn't noted as relevant), The Division 2 Beta will crash on start-up. To circumvent the issue, starting up the game before receiving an invite should prevent a crash. That's not a very helpful solution unless you know the invite is coming beforehand but should help when trying to put together an organized group.

Ubisoft is keeping track of known issues on The Division's subreddit. Anyone experiencing an issue with The Division 2 Beta should check out the list to see if there's an official workaround. Just keep in mind that this is a beta test and there will be issues. The intent is to find them now so that launch goes much more smoothly.

The Division 2 Beta will last through Sunday, February 11. Pre-orderers of the full game have access, as well as a limited selection of players who registered for the beta on the game's official site. Those looking for last-minute invites might try and find a friend already playing, as Ubisoft is allowing pre-order holders to invite three other friends into the beta as well.

The Division 2 launches March 15 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
