Today, the video game publisher and developer Ubisoft revealed an official story trailer for its forthcoming action-RPG shooter, Tom Clancy's The Division 2, with the footage showing its version of Washington D.C. On the brink of complete civil collapse. What's more is that the company has also decided to give potential players a better idea as to when they could expect to give the game a go ahead of launch by announcing the sequel's private beta date.

According to Ubisoft, The Division 2's private beta is set to occur on February 7, 2019, and it will run from then until February 10, 2019. As of yet, the company has not announced exactly what fans should expect out of the trial period, but it has declared that anyone who pre-orders the game will be granted access to the private beta. Others can sign up and be registered for the beta period right here, and should be chosen to partake if there's any extra space available. There's currently no word if Ubisoft plans on holding a public beta at any point ahead of launch.

About a month ago, Ubisoft held a closed technical alpha for The Division 2 in order to stress test the action-RPG's servers and determine their breaking points, with that particular trial having contained a “small portion” of the game. With this being the case, it will be interesting to see if the company has decided to expand the size of the content available for players to experience during the private beta next month.

Taking everything here into account, one can only hope that both the alpha and beta periods for The Division 2 will help Ubisoft ensure a smooth rollout of the game once it arrives later this year in March. The original title was plagued with server problems at launch, which initially marred players' enjoyment of the game and led to a negative perception of the property for a lengthy duration thereafter. So, for the sake of both The Division fans and Ubisoft, we will keep our fingers crossed that the sequel lives up to its expectations as one of the most anticipated games of 2019.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is scheduled to launch on March 15, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
