How to Get to DK Island in Donkey Kong Bananza

How to Access the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC

Once we went to the Switch 2 eShop to purchase the DLC for Donkey Kong Bananza, we installed the content and booted up the game. If you rolled credits already for Bananza, you just need to travel to the nearest Fast Travel Warp Gong location (it shouldn't matter which Layer you're in). If the conversation with the Eel isn't giving you the new area, try speaking to one of the Elder Kong's.

Once you hit the gong, the Eelevator will mention that their husband was brainwashed by a wicked brute, and then they can take you to DK Island. The new "Layer" will be at the top of the Layer list. Once you arrive, just go to the hut by the shore and speak to Squawks to get the adventure going. He'll send you over to speak with Void Kong, and then that's when the Emerald Rush mode will become unlocked.

It seems you can also get a glimpse of DK Island by speaking to Squawks at the Racing Layer if you have yet to beat the game, but you won't be able to check out the Emerald Rush mode until you beat the final boss, roll credits, and then speak to one of the Elders in Donkey Kong Bananza.

How to Start Emerald Rush in Other Layers

Canyon Layer Is First

Once you complete Emerald Rush on DK Island for the first time, you'll earn some points towards unlocking other Layers for Emerald Rush. Canyon, Hilltop, Lagoon, and Feast are the only other layers so far that seem to be unlocks for the new mode. Canyon Layer is the one you will get first.

And to start Emerald Rush, just speak to Void Kong on DK Island, and you'll be able to choose from a list.
