Challenge Room 3: Ice Serve Switcheroo is not obviously highlighted on the map in DK Bananza, but it's worth uncovering for a fun brain-twisting puzzle and three Banandium Gems. Follow this guide to learn how to start the Ice-Serve Switcheroo puzzle in DK Bananza and how to complete all three of its goo puzzles – including the third, secret puzzle.

Where To Start Ice-Serve Switcheroo

Ice-Serve Switcheroo Location In Donkey Kong Bananza

The Ice-Serve Switcheroo puzzle (Challenge Room 3) can be found in the first Resort Layer (SL800). From the starting point in the level, look to the back left of the enormous melon in the middle of the map. You should see a small island with a square pear below a floating island with a strawberry chunk.

Make your way to the island by swimming (or Surf Surfing on a piece of terrain), then either Dive Punch onto the top of the fruit to destroy it in one punch, or dig through the side. You will uncover a Challenge Room entrance door beneath the yellow, pear-like fruit – smash through this to find the Ice-Serve Switcheroo puzzle location in DK Bananza.

The Ice-Serve Switcheroo challenge is home to three puzzles, each of which uses the teleporting goo mechanic introduced in The Divide. To get all three Banandium Gems on offer in the Ice-Serve Switcheroo puzzle, Donkey Kong Bananza players must use this mechanic to create slides that guide ice cubes into a specific container.

How To Solve The First Ice-Serve Switcheroo Puzzle

The first room features two boxes of pink and blue goo with an ice receptacle in the middle on the left side. When you destroy red goo, the destroyed portion is recreated as blue goo in the other box (and vice versa).

Donkey Kong Bananza: Fragmentone Fragment Locations (Forest)

In the Forest Layer, DK Bananza players can find a Fragmentone who will reward 2x Banandium Gems if you find the three missing fragments nearby.

You must use this mechanic to create a slide that will guide ice cubes (from the top right) into the container.

Follow these steps to solve the first Ice-Serve Switcheroo puzzle:

  1. Pull the rope to activate the flow of ice cubes, which will flow directly downward and collide with the block of red goo.
  2. Punch a diagonal line through the red goo from the bottom middle to the top-right. Aim to have the end of your ramp end slightly to the left of the middle of the box.
  3. This will be mirrored in the blue goo, creating a ramp for the ice cubes to tumble down and into the receptacle.

Remember that the teleporting goo works both ways. If you make a mistake in this DK Bananza puzzle, you can just run up to the blue goo box and punch the terrain away. The destroyed terrain will be mirrored in the red box, essentially serving as a way to reset your work.

When you fill up the container enough, a large serving of shaved ice will be created, and a Banandium Gem will spawn at the bottom of the room. Continue to the right to find the second Ice-Serve Switcheroo challenge.

How To Solve The Second Ice-Serve Switcheroo Puzzle

Donkey Kong Bananza Ice Serve Switcheroo Puzzle 2 Solution

The second challenge is a little bit more complex, but uses the same mechanics established in the previous puzzle. This time, the red and blue boxes are adjacent but slightly askew, with the container in the bottom right of the field and the ice machine in the top left.

Your goal in this level is to carve out a tunnel, which creates a ramp, to guide the ice cubes through both boxes and into the shaved ice receptacle.

Follow these steps to solve the second Ice-Serve Switcheroo puzzle:

  1. Pull the rope to activate the flow of ice cubes, which will flow directly downward and out of the play area.
  2. From the bottom right side of the red goo box, punch diagonally to the middle of the left side of the box, creating a kind of tunnel that will funnel ice cubes into the receptacle.
  3. This will be mirrored on the blue side, creating a ramp that should guide ice cubes into the tunnel on the red goo side.
  4. If your sides do not line up, reshape them by punching the blue and red goo as needed.

This DK Bananza puzzle can be a bit tricky to beat, but as long as you have a ramp on the blue side and a small bit of terrain left on the bottom-left side of the red box, the ice cubes should tumble into the container with few issues.

When the container is filled, a giant shaved ice will appear once again, and a Banandium Gem will spawn at the bottom of the map. The room to the right contains a barrel that will take you out of the Ice-Serve Switcheroo challenge – but there's still one secret Banandium Gem left to get before you go.

The secret third room in the Ice-Serve Switcheroo challenge is located to the right of the exit barrel. Punch through the concrete on this far-right wall of the puzzle room, and you will be confronted with the hardest challenge yet.

In this final, secret puzzle room, DK Bananza players must use four boxes of red and blue goo to transfer ice cubes around a large hole in the ground to get to the container just below. Essentially, you must divert the ice cubes to the right, around the hole, then redirect them to the left to fill up the container.

How To Play DK Artist in Donkey Kong Bananza

The secret DK Artist game mode in Donkey Kong Bananza harkens back to the era of Mario Paint and Mario 64's title screen minigame.

Follow these steps to solve the final, secret Ice-Serve Switcheroo puzzle:

  1. Pull the rope to activate the flow of ice cubes, which will flow directly downward and into the hole.
  2. In the top right box, punch diagonally from the bottom right to the middle left, including the bottom-left corner.
    • This will create a gentle ramp on the blue box to the left that guides ice cubes around the hazard.
  3. In the bottom left red goo box, punch a wide hole from the bottom left to the top right.
    • For this part, it's very important to line up the right side of the red box with the left side of the blue box to ensure a steady flow.
  4. Reshape these pieces as needed to create a smooth ramp that leads the bottom middle of the red box.

If successful, you will form the final shaved ice and spawn the last Bandandium Gem in the Ice-Serve Switcheroo puzzle! Pick this up and exit via the barrel to the left to continue with the rest of the Resort layer in Donkey Kong Bananza.
