It would be hard to argue that Donkey Kong Bananza is not the complete package. Along with a ~20-hour campaign that's packed with engrossing mechanics, fun boss fights, and a wealth of visually stunning environments, Donkey Kong Bananza has at least another 20 hours of side content, including satisfying hunts for genuinely useful Banandium Gems and a smorgasbord of thrilling bonus stages.
Donkey Kong Bananza certainly doesn't need DLC anytime soon, but there's plenty of room for it. Bananza's structure naturally lends itself to some additional levels in the future, and maybe another Bananza Transformation or two. But long before Donkey Kong Bananza ever gets DLC, Nintendo should use its base-game content to inspire the first round of DLC for another recently released Switch 2 game.
Donkey Kong Bananza Carries Forward a Modern Nintendo Strategy
Donkey Kong Bananza marches to the beat of its own drum, but in doing so, it successfully carries forward a growing modern Nintendo strategy.
Donkey Kong Bananza Should Inspire Mario Kart World's First DLC
Donkey Kong Bananza's Racing Layer Is A Mario Kart Track Waiting to Happen
About two-thirds of the way through Donkey Kong Bananza, players reach SL1100, simply titled the "Racing Layer." Much simpler than its predecessors, the Racing Layer contains just a circular stadium floating high above the clouds, a gigantic golden trophy, and a reception desk manned by two beloved Donkey Kong heroes.
Talking with Diddy and Dixie Kong will reveal that the dynamic duo have set up their own racecourse deep below the planet's surface. Of course, Donkey Kong agrees to race his oldest allies, which sees him climb atop Rambi the Rhino and engage in a thrilling chase around this floating stadium. The race is short, but it leaves a lasting impression thanks to Donkey Kong Bananza's unique Liftoff Ore mechanics, which allow players to fly high into the air at any time while dashing around the circuit.
Though the track itself is relatively simple, it's still screaming out for a place in Mario Kart World's first wave of DLC. And while players obviously wouldn't be able to activate Liftoff Ore themselves, a Mario Kart World version of Diddy and Dixie's speedway could still include the rainbow-colored material as a way to access shortcuts and alternate pathways.
There are some rumors floating around that Mario Kart World might be getting Donkey Kong Bananza-related DLC soon as two prominent voice actors from Bananza appear in MKW's credits, and it's unclear which characters they voiced in the kart racer.
Donkey Kong Bananza Is Filled With Must-Have Mario Kart Drivers
Currently, the only Donkey Kong characters in Mario Kart World are Donkey Kong and adult Pauline. With the lines between Donkey Kong and Super Mario growing blurrier by the day, it's about time more members of the Kong family joined Mario Kart World's roster. Of course, the most obvious picks would be Diddy and Dixie Kong, but a young Pauline would also be a great choice, as would the VoidCo Kongs.
Donkey Kong Bananza Has A Ton of Outfits Waiting in the Pit
Though Donkey Kong and Pauline are some of the lucky few to make it into Mario Kart World, their customization pales in comparison to the rest of the roster, with them having just one additional outfit each. Mario Kart World needs to give Donkey Kong and Pauline more outfits as soon as possible, and Donkey Kong Bananza can offer a ton of inspiration. There are over 65 customization items for Donkey Kong in Bananza, and over 10 outfits for Pauline, meaning Mario Kart World has plenty to choose from.
