The file size for Donkey Kong Bananza has been updated, revealing the game will require 8.5GB of storage space. This news comes as gamers have less than a month to wait for the release of Donkey Kong Bananza on Switch 2.

As the next big Switch 2 exclusive from Nintendo, Donkey Kong Bananza is on many gamers’ radars. The game brings DK back into the spotlight in the first major 3D Donkey Kong game since the N64 days. Adding to the hype, Nintendo recently held a Donkey Kong Bananza-specific Direct, revealing lots of new details about the adventure. Some of the highlights in the presentation included Pauline as DK’s sidekick, a co-op mode, and some wild transformations, among many other things.

More details about Donkey Kong Bananza have come out, and it's starting to feel reminiscent of Link's latest adventure across Hyrule.

With the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17, fans now know how much space they will need to have available on their Switch 2 system. According to a listing on the official Japanese My Nintendo website, the game will require 8.5GB of storage. It is worth noting that this is down from the original 10GB file size for Donkey Kong Bananza. While this is not a huge change, it does mean players will have slightly fewer issues allocating space for the game.

While Nintendo is known for its games having small file sizes, Donkey Kong Bananza is impressive when compared to another popular Switch 2 exclusive, Mario Kart World. That game requires 21.9GB to download. While that is still relatively small compared to many other triple-A games on the market, it is more than double what is needed for Donkey Kong Bananza.

While the exact length and scope of Donkey Kong Bananza are unknown, everything shown by Nintendo so far suggests that it will be a big adventure for DK and Pauline. Based on the recent Direct, the game world features numerous underground environments with destructible elements. Gameplay footage and screenshots have revealed everything from snowy areas to tropical locales to explore and destroy.

Hopefully, Donkey Kong Bananza can live up to the hype that the recent Direct has helped generate. While it is unclear when a new 3D Super Mario game could be released, DK’s latest adventure could make the wait better for fans. Fortunately, the game will be released soon, so fans will be able to check out the gameplay for themselves. In addition, some stores reportedly feature demo kiosks for Donkey Kong Bananza, giving some gamers a chance to play early.
