One Doom: The Dark Ages player recently shared a clip featuring an awesome glitch which allowed them to abandon their Atlan mech and take down skyscraper-sized Titans with nothing more than the Slayer's regular weapons. While this particular Doom: The Dark Ages bug may prove tricky to replicate, it somewhat gives fans a glimpse at how a lore-accurate Doom Slayer would destroy entire Titans with nothing but guns and grit.

Minor spoilers ahead for one of the final levels in Doom: The Dark Ages.Doom: The Dark Ages presents a bit of a break from tradition compared to previous Doom titles, and in more ways than one. Some of its most ambitious additions include a handful of distinct levels built around Atlan mechs and even a dragon, with each new type of level bringing unique mechanics and ways to slay demons. While flying around expansive maps atop the Slayer's very own dragon in Doom: The Dark Ages, players get to chase down Hell Ships and engage in dodge challenges to neutralize stationary guns and similar such foes. When piloting an Atlan, though, players can trample over demon hordes and buildings alike in a titanic mech suit, and leverage powerful combos to slay Titans in melee combat.

Unfortunately, players don't really get a chance to see the Slayer topple a Titan with his bare hands, despite this being a feat that he's capable of. That said, one lucky player known online as Scoutpandapal_real recently encountered a bug which allowed them to leave their mech behind and fight these giant demons the old-fashioned way. This glitch was demonstrated in an awesome clip which shows the player defeating Titans with the Slayer's regular arsenal in Doom: The Dark Ages, tearing them apart comically fast with nothing more than the Plasma Cycler and Super Shotgun.

This Doom: The Dark Ages Clip Provides a Glimpse At a 'Lore-Accurate' Doom Slayer

It's not entirely clear how the player managed to trigger this bug in the first place, though it likely didn't occur through sheer chance. The clip begins with the player adjusting Doom: The Dark Ages' many difficulty sliders, cranking game speed and damage output values up to maximum. The increased game speed causes them to quickly die to a Titan, but after respawning and skipping the level's opening cutscene, the player simply spawns on-foot without their Atlan.

While pilotable Atlans, Titan combat, and a rideable dragon may just be some of the coolest additions ever brought to a Doom game, these unique levels have actually been quite divisive among the game's fans. Doom: The Dark Ages has generally met high praise among critics, though some long-time fans of the series feel that the plethora of ambitious new mechanics detracts too heavily from the traditional Doom formula.
