Gamers have quite a few things to look forward to at the end of this month. Half-Life: Alyx will be the first entry in the franchise in years, Animal Crossing will make its Switch debut, and DOOM Eternal will let players get in some demon-slaying action. Now, DOOM Eternal has revealed when it will be available for pre-load, so players can jump in as soon as it launches.
Starting now, players are able to download DOOM Eternal on the Xbox One, allowing them to get a substantial head start on the game's install process. PC and PS4, on the other hand, will have to wait until 48 hours before the game launches to start downloading, so on March 18th for most regions. Not only can those that pre-order the game download it early, but they'll also get a free copy of DOOM 64 to go along with it.
Previously, DOOM Eternal confirmed the PC requirements for the game, and to get it running on max settings, players will need a fairly beefy rig. That being said, the game looks incredibly sharp, offering high detail looks at the various demons, weapons, and environments players will encounter throughout the game.
After the success of 2016's DOOM reboot, many are anxiously awaiting DOOM Eternal as one of 2020's biggest games. The first 10 minutes of DOOM Eternal gameplay was shown off recently, offering a glimpse at what awaits players when they finally dive into the game – and it looks like it will do right by the franchise as a whole.
So far, DOOM Eternal looks like it will stay true to the formula that fans know and love, but also add in some new stuff to help shake things up a bit. That does mean that DOOM Eternal will have more platforming elements, but that may not be such a bad thing.
When DOOM Eternal does finally launch, it'll be a big part of kicking off the most anticipated games of 2020. For the most part, 2020 has been a fairly slow year, but that all should change in just under a few weeks. Plus, there's likely more slated for this year that hasn't even been revealed yet.
