A Doom Eternal fan has shared their impressive Maykr Slayer cosplay with the community, and the attention to detail has players marveling. The Maykr first appeared in 2020’s Doom Eternal, and the genetic makeup of the race is techno-organic by design, similar to the works of artist H.R. Giger and reminiscent of Ebb Software’s survival horror Scorn.

The FPS franchise kicked off in 1993 and has continued to be a thrilling source of hellish combat where players assume the role of the Doom Slayer to fight demonic enemies. Not only has Doom remained one of the most popular shooter IPs on the market, but the franchise has also produced a fascinating trend that inspires fans and tech-minded gamers to get the original game running on a variety of products, including one Doom fan who got the game running on an ultrasound scanner.

Posted on Reddit by Ruhyah_Cosplay, a series of photos was shared on the Doom subreddit, showcasing the fan’s well-crafted Maykr Slayer cosplay. The fan managed to nail the white, red, and gold color scheme, complete with the slayer’s weapon and iconic one-eyed helmet with a sinister grin. Despite the faithful recreation, some onlookers were wondering how the cosplayer managed to see anything while wearing the helmet, as the armor seemed to be lacking peepholes. Doom Eternal features the rich history of Khan Maykr, the ruler of the Urdak realm, and the Maykr race, and several Redditors asked how to get the Maykr slayer skin in the game.

Doom Eternal Fan Shares Their Maykr Slayer Cosplay

Doom Eternal’s The Ancient Gods DLC harbors many secrets, and the two-part standalone campaign also offers players the Maykr Slayer skin. Returning to the cosplay, Redditors praised the fan’s craftsmanship, stating the final product matched the in-game Maykr Slayer’s “badass” energy. Additionally, another comment congratulated the cosplayer on being within the 10% of the fandom that could spell “Maykr” correctly. Furthermore, a third fan noted the Maykr Slayer’s helmet reminded them of the ReAnimen abominations from the Invincible series.

The next installment joining the shooter series is Doom: The Dark Ages, serving as the eighth main entry in the franchise and featuring a techno-medieval setting revolving around a prequel narrative to 2016’s Doom. Luckily, some Doom fans will be able to play The Dark Ages early thanks to the Premium Edition’s Early Access period, and this window will open in May for fans to get a taste of the upcoming action.
