Doom: The Dark Ages has some of the best monster designs in most of the games out there, but the bosses are a cut above the rest. As players progress through the game's chapters, they'll experience set-piece boss encounters.

These boss fights can either go super well or put your demon-slaying skills to the test. With that said, some boss fights are quite memorable compared to the rest, and this list will rank all of them.

7 Agaddon Champion
Doom Slayer's Demonic Variant
Agaddon Champion is the second boss that the players will encounter in Chapter 8: Abyssal Forest of Doom: The Dark Ages. The demon wields a twin-blade sword and a shield, making it great at both offense and defense against the Doom Slayer.
Players will need to be constantly on the move as Agaddon Champion can also use energy projectiles at long range. However, despite being versatile in combat, the boss can easily be taken down with well-timed parries and strikes when its force field is down.
6 Komodo Champion
Battle of the Beasts
Players encounter the third boss in Doom: The Dark Ages, Komodo Champion, in Chapter 14: Sprice of Nerathul. The boss has a unique beast design as it charges the Doom Slayer on all fours. It's also quite fast, making its attacks all the more difficult to dodge and parry. The boss is clad in armor, wielding a double-blade chainsaw in one hand and a power gauntlet in the other.
Doom The Dark Ages: How To Unlock The Shield Saw
Players can unlock the Shield Saw and throw it at enemies to inflict high damage in Doom The Dark Ages, here's how to unlock the ability.
Despite its amazing enemy design, Komodo Champion can be easily defeated once players get the hang of its speed. Most of its melee attacks, like chainsaw swing and gauntlet ground pound, can be parried. Despite wearing golden armor, it doesn't get superheated and blow off, compared to other demons.
5 Vagary Champion
Blast from the Past
OG Doom players will immediately recognize the Vagary Champion boss, despite it getting a complete design overhaul in Doom: The Dark Ages. It's the first boss you'll encounter in Chapter 4: Sentinel Barracks, and once again in Chapter 22: Reckoning. It wields an energy blaster on its right appendage that can shoot a volley of orbs, among which only a few are parryable.
Its spider body is completely covered in golden armor that can be superheated with consistent shots from Doom Slayer's weapons. Despite being a classic boss, that's pretty much where the wow-factor ends, as Vagary Champion is one of the more simplistic bosses in the game. The combat loop requires players to parry its energy orbs until the boss is stunned, then shoot its unarmored back for damage until it's defeated.
4 Kreed Maykr
Time to Meet Your Treacherous Maykr
Kreed Maykr is one of the first proper boss fights that players experience in Doom: The Dark Ages Chapter 20: Resurrection. After getting betrayed, Doom Slayer casually walks up to Kreed Maykr to take his revenge. The boss fight itself can be challenging as it's bullet-hell galore, with the boss relaxing in its chair and sending out a barrage of energy-based attacks at players.
Best Steam Deck Settings For DOOM The Dark Ages
DOOM: The Dark Ages is an incredibly demanding game, but it can technically run on Steam Deck with some tweaks.
The Kreed Maykr boss fight is split between two phases, the second being a much harder variant of the first, despite the mechanics remaining the same. The boss fight gameplay loop is simple: dodge the incoming projectile attacks, and damage the boss enough to fill up the finisher bar. Once the bar is filled, perform a glory kill to take a chunk of its health.
The boss eventually increases the quantity of projectile attacks by spawning two additional halo rings over its head. It's also quite difficult to land shots at the boss due to it being quite fast. In the second phase, the boss strips itself of both the armor and the levitating chair, followed by a significant increase in its projectile attack speed in Doom: The Dark Ages.
3 Old One
Lovecraftian Nightmare
The Old One is, hands down, one of the most memorable fights in Doom: The Dark Ages that players will encounter towards the end, in Chapter 21: The Final Battle. The powerful cosmic god is a force to be reckoned with, as players square off with it in the Atlan Mech. While the Cthulhu boss does not have any weapons on hand, it can summon a mace and tentacles at random points in combat.
The boss fight isn't really that difficult if players time their dodges right. However, it can get a bit tricky in the second half, where the Old One starts to rain down portals that spawn tentacles from the ground. Even then, the boss is quite manageable, and players will have a great time fighting off this Lovecraftian entity.
How To Fix Doom The Dark Ages Crashing Error On PC
Doom The Dark Ages runs quite well on PC, but it's prone to random crashes & black screens that disrupt a player's experience, here's how to fix it.
2 Prince Ahzrak and the Witch
The Unholy Duo
The fight against (weakened) Ahzrak and the Witch is the last boss encounter in Doom: The Dark Ages that occurs in Chapter 22: Reckoning. One of the best things about this boss fight remains the synergy between the two, as they gang up on Doom Slayer without giving him any openings. Ahzrak wields his poleblade, while Witch relies on projectile orb attacks.
The fight can become a bit overwhelming as both simultaneously put pressure on Doom Slayer from all sides. If one has encased themselves in the force field, the other one goes on the offensive to deal maximum damage. While Ahzrak will often close the distance and use melee attacks that are parryable, the Witch will constantly zip across the room to put as much distance as she can between herself and the Doom Slayer.
Doom The Dark Ages: Where To Find The Secret Key In Chapter 1
Here's where you can find the secret key in Chapter 1: Village of Khalim of Doom The Dark Ages, and where to use it.
Once the Witch is taken out of the battle, players will fight Ahzrak one-on-one, which will be much easier than the Enhanced Ahzrak boss fight.
1 Enhanced Ahzrak
Bat Out of Hell
Enhanced Ahzrak is one of the toughest boss fights in Doom The Dark Ages that players will fight right after defeating the Old One in Chapter 21: The Final Battle. This is also one of the longest boss fights, spanning across three different phases, each ramping up in difficulty from the previous. Ahzrak will use his poleblade combos to attack Doom Slayer, while also summoning structures that damage players, unless they shoot them.
Ahzrak, in his enhanced form, also stops Doom Slayer from performing any Glory Kills when stunned. He transformed into his winged form in the second phase, which makes him even faster. This form grants Ahzrak access to even more abilities, making the fight a lot tougher. The same trend continues in the third phase, which evolves the boss fight into a literal nightmare.
