In DOOM The Dark Ages, Chapter 9: Ancestral Forge is one of several levels with secret areas that can only be unlocked with a Secret Key. These doors are always indicated with a glowing purple aura and the symbol of the Secret Key, and can be found throughout the level.

The Chapter 9 Secret Key can be found relatively fast if you know where to go from the beginning of the level – but be prepared to fight a lot of demons to get to it. This guide explains where to find the Chapter 9 Secret Key in DOOM The Dark Ages and details all three secret door locations within the level.

To find the Chapter 9 Secret Key, DOOM The Dark Ages players should open their map at the very beginning of the level. You will see three combat hubs around the central heart – head toward the one on the right-hand side from the level start.

Once you arrive, you should see the Chapter 9 Secret Key floating above the combat arena. Defeat the waves of demons, then when the coast is clear, continue up the ramp to the right of the holographic Secret Key floating above you.

You will encounter another army of demons at the top of the ramp, along with a Leader demon who will grant you increased Max Health when defeated. After you clear the room, look to the left of the path you followed to get up to this area for a breakable wall. Shield Charge into the wall to find a few Gold pickups and the Chapter 9 Secret Key.

All Secret Doors In DOOM The Dark Ages Chapter 9

There are three secret doors players can find in DOOM The Dark Ages Chapter 9. Two of these doors are relatively close to the Secret Key location, while the other can be found a little over halfway through the level.

The first Chapter 9 secret door can be found directly ahead of the Secret Key. Pick up the Chapter 9 Secret Key, drop down, and continue in a straight line until you see the secret door above a short ramp.
- Contains a Gold Chest worth 50 Gold
The second secret door in Chapter 9 can be found right at the entrance to the level. Retrace your steps, then look on the left side of the wall to find this secret area.
- Contains one of three Wolf Statue locations in the level. You will be able to earn a Wraithstone if you find all three Wolf Statues in this level.
The third secret door can be found in the combat arena on the opposite side of the heart from the entrance to the level (not the right or left side arenas). Continue through the mission as normal until youreach the lever you must activate to prime the heart in this location. To the right of this lever (facing it), you will see a building you can jump onto, as well as a secret door you can open.
- Contains a short platforming section with a handful of enemies that leads to a Ruby and a Vagary collectible toy.
