How to Get Past the Teeth Door in DOOM: The Dark Ages

Although it may appear as though it's possible to run and jump through the teeth door with just the right timing, the secret to making it to the other side is a lot more straightforward. While facing the passageway with the teeth inside, players should look up and to their right, where they'll see a blue gear. Throwing the Slayer's Shield Saw at the blue gear will lock the teeth in place, allowing players to walk straight through the teeth door without getting bitten.

What's Behind the Teeth Door in Chapter 18?

Sadly, the rewards for solving the teeth door puzzle are fairly underwhelming. On the other side of the door, players will find a passageway containing 14 pieces of Gold. If they climb the ledge at the end of the passageway, they'll find a Life Sigil and one of the chapter's six secret areas. From there, they can perform a Shield Charge on the nearby green target to return to the main part of the map.

Can You Get Through the Teeth Door without Using the Blue Gear?

Even when slowing down the game speed via the Difficulty Modifiers menu, it appears to be impossible to pass through the teeth door without using the blue gear to lock the teeth in place. Interestingly, if players pull up the weapon wheel to slow down time, they'll take significantly more damage upon getting bitten by the teeth door, suggesting the developers may have anticipated that some players would take this approach.
