Dragon Age: Inquisition is known for its use of tarot cards to symbolize different characters. For companion characters, these cards can change based on decisions made and romances taken or untaken. It shows that Dragon Age characters can change, and their fates are not set in stone.

Cassandra is one such character from Dragon Age. She is one of the first companions of the game and has three different cards. There is her default tarot, her Divine tarot, and her romance tarot. These three cards give a look into Cassandra's state of being while in the Inquisition, and possibly what is in store for her in the future.

Cassandra's Default Card

Cassandra's default card.

Cassanrda's default card is the major arcana Strength. It shows that Cassandra is confident and full of inner power. She believes in herself, which is what led her to found the Inquisition. In reverse, though, it can mean self-doubt and a lack of self-control, which can happen if her relationship with the Inquisitor sours. Its reverse reading can even mean hedonism, which can relate to Cassandra's drunken rant to the Inquisitor if they do not get along.

The card is ruled by the fire element and the sun. Strength is often a prediction of a successful conclusion to a big problem. Like the upright reading of the card, Cassandra is a woman of action. However, the next card in the major arcana is the Hermit, which can mean solitude in her future. This is quite possible for her after the events of the Inquisition.

Cassandra's Romance Card

Cassandra's romance card.

Cassandra's romance card is Temperance, another fire element card, but one ruled by Jupiter. It is a major arcana that represents balance and harmony. This could be a sign of Cassandra's relationship with the Inquisitor giving her a sense of inner balance. The card can also mean moderation and seeking divine intervention, which can relate to the Inquisitor being the Herald of Andraste. Reversed, it can mean imbalance and disharmony. A bad relationship can easily throw Cassandra off balance and topple what strength she has.

Temperance sharing the fire element with Cassandra's default card could mean that Cassandra feels she can be her strong self around the Inquisitor. Her romance card is symbolic of the middle road, of patience, and calm. With her romance, there is little drama or doubts. After all, Cassandra is a romantic and has read enough romance novels to know what she wants.

Cassandra's Divine Card

Cassanrda's Divine card.

If made Divine, Cassandra gets the Empress card. This major arcana is connected to the earth element and ruled by Venus. It symbolizes stability, which is Cassandra's biggest plan as Divine. She does not plan to push agendas like Leliana or rock the boat like Vivienne. She is a nurturer, knowing that her people will take time and patience to grow. She is aware that the Chantry is not welcoming to all, and wishes to change that, to nurture trust between the people of Thedas and the Chantry.

With the two other cards connected to fire, the Divine card stands out. This can mean Cassandra is sacrificing part of her old self in order to be Divine. The upright reading of the card foreshadows a rule of abundance, opportunity, and growth. Reversed can mean financial issues and stagnation. The reverse reading may show what is at risk with Cassandra's rule. Stagnation is a big one, as Leliana and Vivienne may push harder for change than Cassandra.
