EA and BioWare have detailed the five difficulty settings that will be featured in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. According to the team, they aim to make Dragon Age: The Veilguard as accessible as possible for all players, so they can enjoy the game and its story in whatever way suits them best. In addition to the five difficulty settings, there's also a modular difficulty with numerous customizable settings.

After nine years in development, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has finally gone gold and is ready to reach players worldwide on October 31. The last title in the series, Dragon Age: Inquisition, was released in 2014 and sold over 12 million copies. With the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, one assumes that BioWare wants to replicate that success, and to achieve this, it's working hard to ensure that players of all types and skill levels will have an enjoyable experience with the upcoming RPG. The inclusion of numerous difficulty settings was the result of this approach.

Previously, EA and BioWare announced four difficulty settings for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. But now, in an official statement, they've presented even more options. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will feature five difficulty settings in total and a fully customizable one. From easiest to hardest, the difficulties are Storyteller, Keeper, Adventurer, Underdog, and Nightmare. The Unbound difficulty setting will be the most modular, allowing players to tailor-make their experience across various aspects of gameplay.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Difficulty Settings Differences

The Storyteller difficulty is for those who just want to enjoy the story of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Keeper and Adventurer are similar, offering a more balanced experience. The difference is that Keeper emphasizes party composition and character builds over reaction time, meaning strategy trumps action. Underdog seems to be the equivalent of Hard, requiring strategic planning and tactical decisions. As for Nightmare, the name says it all. It's reserved only for the most hardcore players.

In the Unbound difficulty, players will be able to customize all settings. Still, BioWare suggests picking a curated preset for a first playthrough. The gameplay elements that can be customized on the player side are parry timing, aim assist strength, and aim snap. Players can tweak enemy aggression, damage, health, resistance, and their vulnerabilities. There's even an option to Prevent Death altogether, turning Dragon Age: The Veilguard' s combat into something more leisurely.

Since the announcement of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, EA and BioWare have committed to making the game incredibly accessible to players, not only with the varied difficulty settings but also with countless accessibility options that affect everything from the game's subtitles to audio aids and full-screen color filters. So far, they're delivering on their promises.
