Summary
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard is available in Standard, Deluxe, and Collector's editions with exciting bonus items.
- Pre-ordering the Standard or Deluxe Edition grants a special Blood Dragon Cosmetic Armor set, sparking nostalgia for Dragon Age and BioWare veterans.
- The Collector's Edition does not include the game itself but offers a large handful of Dragon Age: The Veilguard-themed physical items.
It's officially October 2024, which means Dragon Age: The Veilguard is almost here. Since it has now been nearly ten years since the release of the last game in the series, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a long time coming, making its impending arrival all the more exciting.
There are three editions of Dragon Age: The Veilguard available (Standard, Deluxe, and Collector's), each one offering players a variety of content. That being said, pre-ordering either the Standard or Deluxe edition of Dragon Age: The Veilguard also grants players a bonus item that hasn't been seen in over a decade.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Lucanis is the Polar Opposite of Zevran
While Zevran of Dragon Age: Origins and Lucanis of Dragon Age: Veilguard have similarities, they're ultimately more different than similar.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Standard and Deluxe Edition Pre-Order Bonus
As is the case with most modern games, Dragon Age: The Veilguard includes a special pre-order bonus. Should players pre-order either the Standard Edition or Deluxe Edition of the game, they will receive one Blood Dragon Cosmetic Armor Set for each of Dragon Age: The Veilguard's three classes. This may very well be the most special bonus item being offered with the game, especially to Dragon Age and BioWare veterans, as it is likely to conjure some nostalgia they haven't felt in over a decade.
The Blood Dragon Armor set dates back to November 3, 2009, when Dragon Age: Origins, the game that started it all, was released. Back then, the bonus armor set was included with the purchase of any edition of the game. Dragon Age: Origins owners simply needed to input a code provided to unlock the Blood Dragon Armor, then they could equip their character with it and benefit from the helpful stats it provides. BioWare then continued this tradition in Dragon Age 2, but not before also including the Blood Dragon Armor as DLC in Mass Effect 2, which is now simply available for purchase in-game in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Deluxe Edition Contents
According to Dragon Age: The Veilguard's official website, EA Play page, and Steam page, both editions of the game must be pre-ordered if players wish to receive the bonus Blood Dragon Cosmetic Armor Sets for their Rook. However, Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Deluxe Edition bonus content will be included whether players pre-order it or not — the only question is whether players will find that content worth it. Fortunately, while the contents of the Deluxe Edition are purely cosmetic, there is plenty available, so players may be getting the bang for their buck.
- Cosmetic Rook Armor Sets — 1 Per Class
- Companion Cosmetic Armor Sets — 1 Per Companion
- Cosmetic Rook Weapons — 6 Total
- Cosmetic Companion Weapons — 1 Per Companion
Included in the Deluxe Edition of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a wide variety of cosmetic pieces — armor and weapons for both the player's Rook and their seven companions. Since these are purely cosmetic in nature, players will be unable to benefit from them in gameplay. Nevertheless, in the world of Dragon Age, it has long been worth it to don the best-looking armor available, and it seems Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Deluxe Edition armor sets may fulfill that purpose.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard — Rook's Coffer (Collector's Edition) Contents
Last but not least is the Dragon Age: The Veilguard "Rook's Coffer" Collector's Edition. Unfortunately, unlike the other editions of the game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Collector's Edition does not include the game itself. Instead, it offers buyers a selection of Dragon Age: The Veilguard-themed physical items they can add to their collection.
- Light-Up Lyrium Dagger
- Rook's Card Deck
- Enchanted Die
- Glass Potion Flask
- Cloth Map and Quiver
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard Companion Lithograph
- Thank-You Letter
Obviously, the appeal of Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Collector's Edition may be limited to hardcore fans of the franchise since it doesn't include the game. Even so, there is certainly a large handful of unique Dragon Age items available for collectors.
