The fourth installment in the Dragon Age series is well and truly on its way, with even more details revealed, including the much anticipated release date. Taking place ten years after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age: the Veilguard will follow the story of a new playable character given the title Rook, but that doesn't mean it is completely distancing itself from its predecessors.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Ways The Warden's Story Could Influence The Plot
The Warden/Hero of Ferelden's story could have a pretty significant effect on the plot of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
The Inquisitor will be making their return in Veilguard, and while their plot was all but tied up in Trespasser, Solas is still at large and no one has yet been able to locate him. As the previous installment, the Inquisitor and their personal story will likely have the biggest impact on the plot, with choices that will echo through Veilguard.
6 Who the Inquisitor Is
As a Returning Character, the Inquisitor Themselves Will Depend on Player's Choices
Despite a returning player character in Veilguard, unfortunately BioWare is not letting players use Dragon Age Keep to import their saves over. Instead, they will be posed a series of questions at the start of the game, and allow them to customize their Inquisitor just as they would their Rook. Many players will likely be booting up their favorite Inquisition run to remember what their canon Inquisitor looked like in order to faithfully recreate them.
RPGs With The Most Impressive Customization Options
Some RPGs let players go crazy with their customization options. These are by far the most impressive.
They will also be able to answer the questions to get their canon world-state, such as important choices and romance option. This would have an influence on how others might react or address the Inquisitor, and there will be tidbits of dialogue that harken back to these choices.
5 The Next Divine
The Next Religious Ruler Will Likely Appear in Veilguard
Dragon Age: Inquisition quite literally starts off with a bang, as an explosion kills a lot of people, including the current Divine. With a vacuum of power in place, the left and right hand of the Divine, Cassandra and Leliana, are expected to take her place but players will also be presented with Vivienne as a third choice, due to her mastery over magic and her status in society as a whole.
As such, this choice may not be the easiest to make, and one that should be considered carefully because of the effects it could have in the future. The Divine is an important figure with a lot of influence at their fingertips, and will likely be making an appearance in Veilguard. The players choice could affect just how well the chosen Divine is doing in their new position, and just what they have been up to over the course of the decade between games.
4 The Ruler of Orlais
Another Point of Political Tension the Inquisitor Must Solve
Not only will the Inquisitor need to decide on the next Divine, the Inquisitor will also have a say in who becomes the Emperor or Empress of Orlais in the infamous Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts mission. There are rumors that the current Empress's life is at stake, and of course, it is down to the Inquisitor and their companions to intervene. However, the Inquisitor can do more than just save Celene's life, they can change who is in power.
They can choose to keep Celene on the throne, or replace her with Gaspard of Briala. There is another option to reconcile the old lovers Celene and Briala, and have them rule together. The choice is not obvious, as there are ups and downs to every choice, but those who have read the Dragon Age novel The Masked Empire might have their choice swayed. Whatever option is chosen will undoubtedly influence Veilguard in one way or another.
3 Drinking from the Well
This Key Choice Could Change the Inquisitor in Veilguard
The Well of Sorrows is a key location said to hold a vast wealth of knowledge, but drinking water from any mysterious well is not generally advised. Still, it is a choice not made easy when presented to the Inquisitor, as who knows what the drawbacks will be, and if they are worth the rewards? If the Inquisitor chooses not to drink from it, Morrigan will, which could be an even more disastrous choice as she often has her own agenda.
The Most Important Choices You’ll Make In Dragon Age: Inquisition
Dragon Age: Inquisition brought new life to the series, but it also placed a burden onto players with vital decisions that had to be reached in-game.
The consequences of drinking from the Well aren't made very clear until after the choice is made. With both Morrigan and the Inquisitor returning in Veilguard, it makes the decision all the tougher as either choice is bound to echo through to Veilguard, but the how won't be known until players meet the one who tapped into the Well's power.
2 The Fate of the Wardens
One of Thedas's Most Major Factions is Left to the Mercy of the Inquisitor
Fans will recall the Grey Wardens as the main protagonists of Dragon Age: Origins, in particular the Hero of Ferelden and Alistair. They were the only ones who stood up to the continuing threat of the Blight, calling upon the Warden's allies to gather their army. The faction has then gone on to appear in other games, their most infamous appearance being that of Dragon Age: Inquisition.
The Wardens were mind-controlled into aiding Corypheus's escape, and as such weren't the most trustworthy allies that one could call upon in time of need, but none can deny their skills in battle could work in their favor. The Inquisitor could choose to ally themselves with the Warden, or decide they are too much of a risk, resulting in them disbanding. The fate of this great organization is likely to be reflected in Veilguard, and may influence whether the Rook could ever call on them for aid.
1 Mages or Templars?
This Age-Old Question is Posed to the Inquisitor
A major point of conflict in all Dragon Age games is that between the mages and the templars. Mages desire freedom, while the templars deem them too much a threat to allow them to go unchecked. As such, the friction between them can often lead to blood being shed on both sides. Players have been posed with this dilemma before, and they are once again in Inquisition while amassing enough forces to challenge Corypheus.
Unfortunately, players won't be able to recruit both sides, and will be forced once more to make a choice. There are arguments to be made for both sides, and even the companions are evenly divided, so the tie-breaker ultimately comes down to the player. Whichever side is not chosen ends up in the opposing team, which could have interesting implications in Veilguard, as the world might then become distrustful of the faction that was not chosen by the Inquisitor.
