Summary
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard's "steamiest" romance is apparently with the Qunari warrior, Taash.
- All companions in The Veilguard are romanceable, regardless of the player character's gender.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to hit consoles and PC at the end of October, and the game's director has revealed that the Taash romance is the "steamiest" in the game. Romanceable companions have been a hallmark of the Dragon Age series since its inception, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard certainly isn't breaking that trend.
While the fourth mainline installment in the series sports its smallest companion roster so far, every companion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to be a potential romance partner regardless of the player character's gender, setting it apart from all previous series titles. Aside from dwarven scout Lace Harding, who was a romance option in Dragon Age: Inquisition despite not being a playable companion in that game, every companion in The Veilguard is also a new addition to the Dragon Age roster, giving players plenty of opportunities to forge new relationships, romantic or otherwise.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Carries Over 3 Big Decisions from Inquisition
The upcoming Dragon Age: The Veilguard lets players carry over three big decisions from Dragon Age: Inquisition.
But for game director Corinne Busche, one romance stands out above the rest as the "steamiest" of them all. In a recent interview with IGN, Busche revealed that the romance with The Veilguard's Qunari warrior Taash, as well as the ultimate love scene that plays out with her, was shockingly delightful. "When I got to that scene and saw the finished version of that cinematic, I was hollering," she said during that interview.
Taash Has the Steamiest Romance in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
An exciting romance doesn't seem to be the only reason for players to want to add the dragon hunter to their inner circle. The term Qunari generally refers to a mysterious race of metallic-skinned, horned-headed people who follow a strict code known as the Qun, though people of any race can be accepted into their ranks. While the plot of Dragon Age 2 featured a full-scale assault on Kirkwall by the Qunari, The Veilguard's Taash could solve the mystery of her people that players have been waiting years for.
Taash is only the second Qunari character that can be romanced in a mainline Dragon Age game, as well as the first female of that race. While four races — as well as a golem and a massive hound — have existed as playable companions in Dragon Age lore since its first game, the series didn't let players get intimate with a Qunari until The Iron Bull in the last installment, Dragon Age: Inquisition. A romance with the fearsome but lovable leader of The Bull's Chargers mercenary company included a laugh-out-loud scene of Cullen, Josephine, and Cassandra all individually walking in on Bull nonchalantly lying nude on a bed in the afterglow. With that kind of scene in mind, it's no wonder that actor Freddie Prinze Jr. Called Iron Bull his favorite role in his entire acting career, and it sounds like Taash's scene may rival even that classic moment.
