Summary

  • Frieza is 2nd to only Beerus in planet destruction
  • Cell had a fluke in destroying Earth, saved by Goku
  • Vegeta destroyed many planets in the past but is now a good guy

Dragon Ball has a lot of powerful characters; however, not every member of its incredibly big cast can flex about being able to destroy a planet. Destroying a world requires not only power, but precision to aim for its core, or, at least, that's what is said in the lore of the show. Astrophysics aside, planets are big targets, but quite sturdy. Even a well-placed Kamehameha wouldn't be enough to destroy one completely.

Dragon Ball: 10 Most Polarizing Characters You Either Love Or Hate

Dragon Ball has featured many characters across the franchise, and while some are universally beloved, some are either loved or hated. No in-between.

2

So, this list is about characters that, either by accident or for the sheer pleasure of sowing destruction, have killed worlds at some point during their careers. From the most obvious and infamous Galactic Tyrant of the series to the actual Deity that governs all time and space.

10 Frieza

The Emperor's Planet Kill Count Is Second Only To The God Of Destruction

  • First Appearance: Dragon Ball manga chapter #247 Dark Clouds Swirl Over Planet Namek
  • Current Status: Alive

Frieza, since the moment he appeared, made manifest that his sole purpose in life was galactic domination. And what kind of intergalactic space tyrant would this guy be if he didn't blow a planet or two in the process? The whole planet destruction thing began with the Frieza/Saiyan Invasion saga, so it's kind of his personal signature, going around, dominating some worlds, or destroying others.

The Emperor Frieza has the largest planet kill score after the very god of destruction himself: Beerus. No wonder he is one of the candidates to occupy his post once this Cat-like lazy (but powerful) deity retires.

9 Cell

It Was A Fluke, But Still Deserves To Be On The List

  • First Appearance: Dragon Ball manga chapter #361 The Mysterious Monster, Finally Appears!!
  • Current Status: Dead

Cell was an all-powerful being, made with the cells of dozens of Z fighters, and even Frieza himself. In fact, this beast was so powerful, that in his final act of arrogance before dying, he was willing to take down the whole Earth with him.

Thankfully, Goku and his timely instant transmission ability were there to save the day. But, well, Goku being Goku, ended up landing on Kaio Sama's planet with the Cell-bomb about to blow out. So, the credit for this planet kill should go to both of them.

8 Goku

Should Share The Credits With Cell

  • First Appearance: Dragon Ball manga Chapter 1 - Bulma and Son Goku
  • Current Status: Alive

So, following back with the previous info about Goku blowing up Kaio Sama's world, as he shares blame with Cell for doing so, Goku is also partially responsible for the destruction of Namek. I know it seems far-fetched, but hear me out.

Sparking Zero Strongest Gokus- SSJ3 Goku SSJ1 Goku SSGSS Goku
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero - 10 Strongest Versions Of Goku, Ranked

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero brings over 20 versions of Goku to the battlefield, but only the best and strongest fighters can come out on top.

During the battle with Frieza, Goku had many chances to end the villain before he went and threw a bomb at the planet. But he was so angry, and so out of control, that he the chance go away. He wanted to make Frieza suffer for what he did to Krillin and all the inhabitants of Namek, so that's 2 planets Goku shares the blame for destroying. On the other hand, if he wished to, he could totally destroy a world or two. Something that has been already proven since when Zamasu took over his body, he used his power to destroy some worlds.

7 King Vegeta

Able To Kill Planets With A Single Ki Blast

  • First Appearance: Fighting Power: One Million?? (Anime)
  • Current Status: Dead

King Vegeta the Third, or Vegeta III, father of the Vegeta we all know and hate/love, made his debut during the Frieza Saga, in a sort of flashback that explains that he was obsessed with power (as many Saiyans before and after him) and that he only obeyed Frieza out of convenience and fear. So, he personally supervised the destruction of many worlds, and he is even shown destroying several (in the OVAs) using powerful Ki Blasts.

Though Vegeta III never knew about the ill fate his own planet would have, he kept doing Frieza's bidding and destroying worlds until it was too late to realize the Saiyan homeworld was next on the Emperor's list for deletion. He died with his world, holding up to his arrogant last will to see his son who was off-planet becoming the next Super Saiyan.

6 Vegeta

He Used To Be Bad, You Know?

  • First Appearance: Dragon Ball manga chapter #204 "Sayonara, Son Goku"
  • Current Status: Alive

Vegeta's power is undeniable. Able to go toe to toe with Goku, and the next candidate to become God of Destruction after Beerus, Vegeta is undoubtedly one hell of a warrior. Ever since he got back on Earth after Namek's destruction, and was nursed back to health by Bulma. After that, he was tamed and turned into an exemplary father (well, sort of) by the earthling genius inventor.

But wasn't he supposed to be a bad guy who destroyed entire worlds? Well, yes, as a matter of fact, in a flashback, we can see Vegeta destroying Planet Arlia while working for Frieza's army, though it is said he destroyed many others as well. So, yes, Vegeta is a destroyer of worlds as much as he forces himself to be a good Saiyan, he carries that burden with him. However, his pride is too big to make him feel guilty about his past.

5 Majin Buu

This Thing Has Killed Several Worlds

  • First Appearance: Dragon Ball Manga #460 "Majin Buu Appears!"
  • Current Status: Alive

This evil creature, who everyone seems to have forgotten about, has destroyed countless worlds. His creator and Master, the Mage Babidi used him to blast entire civilizations to ashes. His evil acts were so heinous, that even the whole council of Kaios decided to intervene to prevent his resurrection.

Dragon Ball Z: Majin Buu Weaknesses
Dragon Ball: 6 Biggest Weaknesses Majin Buu Has

Dragon Ball's bubble gum baddie may seem unbeatable, but Buu has a few flaws that clever fighters can exploit.

Not that it helped much, since this guy came back to life, killed thousands, and went on a rampage turning everyone into candy, cookies, and chocolate, among other vile acts. Then, of course, he killed his own master, proving that he was an uncontrollable beast. After "expelling his evil side" he seems to have become some sort of comic relief, and guardian of his best friend: Mr. Satan.

4 Babidi

Destroyed Entire Worlds Out Of Spite

  • First Appearance: Dragon Ball Z # 252 Bobbidi the Warlock
  • Current Status: Dead

A tiny, little fly-like alien, with a crooked mind and a cold heart. The vile mage Babidi once enjoyed destroying entire worlds and civilizations, until his rampage came to a halt thanks to the intervention of the Council of Kaios.

But this didn't stop Babidi, as he only got sealed away for some time. Though the anime is not seen much, this little creature is well capable of destroying entire planets. It is just that he prefers sending his henchmen to do the job, while he enjoys the pain and suffering from the comfort of his throne.

3 Zamasu

No One Has The Right To Live If He Says So

  • First Appearance: Dragon Ball Super Episode #47 - Goku Black
  • Current Status: Dead

Zamasu is quite a lost case: he's pure evil, and crazy as they come. After stealing Goku's body, he went on a test run destroying worlds, but even before getting the Goku Black shape, Zamasu was prone to delete those he deemed unworthy.

As seen in various flashbacks during the Goku Black saga, Zamasu not only destroyed two civilizations but razed the entire planet. Despite his master telling him to control his emotions, this guy has probably destroyed several other worlds before Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks put a halt to his tantrum.

2 Beerus

His Job Is Literally Destroying Worlds

  • First Appearance: Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (Movie 2013)
  • Current Status: Alive

Don't be fooled by his "cute" sphynx-cat-like appearance, as this is the God of Destruction himself: Beerus. He used to go around the universe, clearing it from worlds that were "unworthy" or "unbalanced," so he is some sort of equalizer God, bringing equilibrium to a universe that is too chaotic.

Though, it is not clearly explained what his true goals are (besides eating deserts and searching for a candidate to occupy his post after he retires), he has become the Mentor for Vegeta and Goku. But mainly for Vegeta, since Goku seems to be following a different path. So, he is out of the World Destruction business for the moment, but that doesn't mean he cannot snap at any given time and go destroy a couple of celestial bodies.

1 Zeno Sama

This God Erases Entire Universes With A Flick Of His Fingers

Omniking Zeno in Dragon Ball Super
  • First Appearance: Dragon Ball Super manga #13 - "The Winning Universe Is Decided!"
  • Current Status: Alive

A mysterious existence, said to be the God of all creation, and also the destroyer of all. Zeno (or Xeno) Sama is the God above all Gods, the King of All. Controlling all the universes from his infinite throne, alongside the Father of all Angels (The Grand Minister), he supersedes the life in all worlds, and is well capable of terminating them at will, if he thinks it's right to do so.

The Grand Minister informed Whis and Goku that Zeno had destroyed worlds before and that he would continue to do so. As a matter of fact, he was about to erase several universes but decided it would be fun to decide which ones are allowed to stay through a martial arts tournament (Thanks to Goku's suggestion), and well, an entire Dragon Ball Super Arc is about the Survival of said universes, decided through a Battle Royale.
