Ever since the untimely passing of the legendary Akira Toriyama in March 2024, the Dragon Ball franchise has been on hiatus. This has made fans incredibly distraught, since everyone was starting to love the new direction that the franchise had been heading in and the conclusion of the Super Hero arc finally paved the way for a brand-new arc set in the modern-day storyline.
However, almost a full two years since the untimely hiatus, it seems that Dragon Ball Super is set to make a full return in 2026 with Toyotarou manning the helm completely. With a continuing storyline come greater villains, which will force the heroes to get even stronger by unlocking new forms, so let's take a look at what may await Goku if he ever reaches beyond his Ultra Instinct state.

At its most basic explanation, Ultra Instinct can be defined as the greatest Martial Arts technique in the multiverse that allows the user's body to move on its own without them having to do so proactively. This gives them incredible autonomous defense while allowing the user to put all their power and focus into their offense.
As it was explained in the Dragon Ball Super series, there are various levels to perfecting one's Martial Arts, and Ultra Instinct is at the top of the list. As the inherent technique of the Angels of the multiverse, it is the epitome of Martial Arts prowess, undoubtedly making it the most difficult technique that one can learn in the entire multiverse. It is only due to the Angel's natural affinity for it that they don't have much difficulty mastering it.
I have greater command over Ultra Instinct than Merus, and in turn, the Grand Priest's Ultra Instinct is even more accurate than my own.
However, even then, there are various degrees of accuracy in using this technique, and simply unlocking it doesn't necessarily make one stronger than everyone else. This can be seen each time Goku trains with Whis, since the latter has used it for millions of years and has become a master at Ultra Instinct, so his accuracy with it is far greater.
As such, Whis' own accuracy with the technique is far below that of his father, the Grand Priest, who has seemingly been using it for even longer. Due to this mastery over Ultra Instinct, the Grand Priest is considered one of the five most powerful characters across the entire Dragon Ball multiverse, with many fans even putting him above Grand Zeno in terms of overall technique and fighting skill, though the Ruler of the Multiverse simply boasts incomparable power.
Aside from the amazing benefits of autonomous defense and allowing the user to focus completely on offense, a mastery over Ultra Instinct also makes the user's body incredibly durable and hardy, as could be seen in Goku's battle against Moro, where the villain broke his hand upon connecting with Goku's body.
The last time the technique was used was at the end of the Super Hero arc, where Goku awakened the form against Gohan Beast, where both transformations were equally matched. Through the use and mastery of Ultra Instinct that Goku has displayed in the recent arcs of Dragon Ball Super, he has cemented his place as one of the main fighters of Universe 7 and one of the multiverse's most powerful mortals.

The power to manipulate Ki is one that's seen in many anime series. These abilities, however, are without a doubt the strongest.
Will Goku Achieve Another Transformation Even Stronger Than Ultra Instinct?
Goku's Next Power-Up
- A possibility for Goku to get even stronger.
With the end of the Granolah and Super Hero arcs, there were many directions that fans believed the story was headed, especially in terms of forms and power scaling, since Dragon Ball has a trend of introducing even bigger and stronger threats with each subsequent story arc. The problem here lies in the fact that Goku and the rest of the Z-Fighters have already achieved their strongest forms, so how could they possibly face threats even more powerful than them?
The logical answer here is that, once the series returns and the villains in the new arcs are greater than the heroes, new forms will be required. One such threat that's very apparent is none other than Black Frieza, who managed to defeat Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta with just a single hit.
So what would Goku's next transformation look like? In all truth, the most likely answer would be that it remains a further evolution of Ultra Instinct that makes Goku's use of the technique even more accurate than before, perhaps even rivaling the version of the technique used by some of the lower ranking Angels. Currently, Goku's mastery of Ultra Instinct is the greatest in the multiverse among beings below the Angels, even above that of Beerus.
At the moment, until a new form is outright shown, it's impossible to predict how it can look in terms of its design. However, some educated guesses can be made, since Goku has even used Ultra Instinct in very malleable ways to perfectly suit it for specific situations, with the best example being the True Ultra Instinct which he used against Gas.
For Ultra Instinct to work, I need my heart to be calm and tranquil. But, in this form, I can put my emotions to work for me.
Using Ultra Instinct requires the user to fight without any emotion, which completely goes against Goku's Saiyan nature. So, the way he worked around that was by unlocking True Ultra Instinct, which allowed him to use the unique properties of the technique and grow in power through his emotions, so if there truly is a form beyond Ultra Instinct, it is almost assuredly going to be an evolution of True Ultra Instinct.
In terms of design, True Ultra Instinct looked very similar to Ultra Instinct Sign, in that it just seemed like Goku's base form. So, if this trend continues, this new iteration could seem like Goku's Super Saiyan form utilizing Ultra Instinct's aura and powers, which would be a perfect new addition and a very cool thing for all fans to see.
