Summary
- Mega Premium Masterline Golden Frieza figure costs $1,700
- Limited to 150 units, fans must enter a lottery to buy
- Dragon Ball Super fans anticipate Black Frieza arc
The Dragon Ball Super manga is still on hiatus, but that would never stop Bandai Namco from producing more Dragon Ball figures. A brand-new Golden Frieza will soon be available for purchase... Or something like that. But what's catching the attention of many is its price.
Golden Frieza is a transformation of Frieza introduced in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Ressurection 'F', but it is a power-up that he can only use for a short time. The new figure is the Mega Premium Masterline Golden Frieza, and actually only a few people will be able to buy it.
Dragon Ball Super: The Golden Frieza Arc, Explained
The Golden Frieza Arc sees the resurrection of Frieza and his achievement of a more powerful form, where he faces off against Goku and Vegeta.
The Price of the Golden Frieza Figure Is Shockingly High
According to official information, this figure is 61 centimeters tall, with a 43 by 34-centimeter base — the figure also contains many LED effects (which can be easily turned on and turned off), and can apparently be detached from its base. But all this comes at a price, and a very high one: 242,000 yen (about 1,700 dollars, but taxes may apply).
It is also a limited edition, with only 150 units for sale. Fans have to apply to be part of a lottery that will randomly select who gets to buy it — meaning that they are applying for a chance to buy the figure. And given that this will be a rare one, there are probably many more than 150 entries. The winners will be announced on May 1, 2025, and the figure will be shipped later that month.
Golden Frieza is later reintroduced in Dragon Ball Super, which features the Golden Frieza arc (in the anime, it lasts from Episode 16 to Episode 27).
Dragon Ball Super Fans Can't Wait For Black Frieza
While the Golden Frieza figure is a cool addition for anyone who can afford it (and is lucky enough to be selected), many Dragon Ball fans are looking forward to Frieza's most powerful form (so far), Black Frieza.
There are lots of expectations that the next Dragon Ball Super arc will finally focus on Black Frieza, a transformation that was first shown in the Granolah arc and seems to be much more powerful than anything that the Dragon Team has ever seen.
Toyotaro hasn't confirmed which will be the next Dragon Ball Super arc, but he did tease that we will learn more about Black Frieza in the future. Many fans argue that a potential Black Frieza arc should be the final one, but, while that makes sense, it's not necessarily how it will happen.
Unfortunately, Dragon Ball Super is still on hiatus and the latest issue of V-JUMP did not bring any new information about the return of the series. So fans will have to wait a little longer to learn what's next in the story.
