The file size of Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft's highly anticipated Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has been revealed, with players requiring more or less 30 GB of drive space, depending on the platform. After nearly 17 years, Dragon Ball fans are getting the long-awaited fourth entry in the beloved Budokai Tenakichi series. Like prior entries in the series, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero includes a huge roster of characters, fighters spanning across almost the entire Dragon Ball timeline, giving players the chance to fight in large-scale arena battles.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero's full base roster comes up to 181 characters, which includes a number of familiar fighters like Frieza, Vegeta, and Trunks from Dragon Ball Z, more relatively obscure names like Dr. Wheelo, Garlic Jr., and Tapion, and even characters from Dragon Ball GT like Baby Vegeta, Pan, and Syn Shenron. The game also sports an extensive single-player mode that takes players through some of the most iconic moments of the franchise, while also offering a number of divergent "What If" story lines. With Sparking Zero's imminent release, the file size of the fighting game has surfaced online, giving players an idea of how much space they'll need.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Is Giving Call of Duty a Run for Its Money
The upcoming anime-based fighter Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero holds its own against the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Fans were able to get the exact file size for Sparking Zero across the three platforms it will release on: PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and Xbox Series X/S. This information was provided courtesy of PlayStation Size and Yeims_11 on Twitter, which was relayed by notable Dragon Ball fan account DbsHype. Between the three platforms, Sparking Zero's requires 27.5 GB on PS5, 29 GB on Steam, and 31.9 GB on Xbox Series X/S, the Xbox version requiring the most space, though not by much. Compared to other fighting games on PS5, such as Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat 1, the file size is rather small.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Digital File Sizes
- PS5: 27.05GB
- PC via Steam: 29GB
- Xbox Series X/S: 31.19GB
Previous file size leaks for Sparking Zero suggested that the game would be roughly 80 GB on Xbox, or even at least over 100 GB, based on some early promotional boxes that were present in stores around September 2024. For comparison's sake, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot's file size was a little over 40 GB of storage, which made sense considering it was an open-world adventure game. Another game with similar mechanics to Sparking Zero, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, is roughly 20 GB.
While the upcoming game won't require 80 GB of drive space, Sparking Zero being roughly 30 GB is quite surprising. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has a lot of content packed into it, including a huge roster, heavily detailed arenas, and an expansive story mode. Players can also create their own "What If" story mode, sharing their campaigns online for fans to play through as well, meaning players have a lot to do.
