Summary

  • Yajirobe is getting nerfed in the latest Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero update due to being overpowered.
  • The update also includes tweaks to other issues like unresponsive controls during online matches and difficulty adjustments in Episode Battle.
  • Bandai Namco is looking into major issues like corrupted save data.

The latest Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero update is nerfing one of the game’s most powerful and unlikeliest characters: Yajirobe. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has become an instant hit with diehard Dragon Ball fans and casual players alike thanks to its branching Episode Battle storylines, frantic combat gameplay, and a large roster of playable characters spanning the classic Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and more recent Dragon Ball Super shows.

In a game filled with fully-trained Super Saiyan warriors, alien conquerors, nightmarish androids, and world-destroying deities, one of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s most overpowered combatants is actually one of the weaker characters in the Dragon Ball lore. Yajirobe doesn’t particularly rank high among the strongest Dragon Ball fighters, but Sparking Zero players have found him to be a force to be reckoned with thanks to only costing two Destruction Points to add to a team in Ranked mode and his ability to heal himself using Senzu Beans.

It seems that even Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft are aware of how overpowered Yajirobe is, as the latest Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero patch is adding nerfs to him. As pointed out by Twitter user LotusAsakura and reported by Dextero, Yajirobe still costs only two Destruction Points, but his healing Senzu Bean ability now requires six Skill Count points instead of five, he starts the match with no Skill Count points instead of two, and his health has been reduced to two and a half bars (whereas he had three bars before).

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero October 24 Patch Notes

  • Improvement of an issue where some controls become unresponsive during online matches when classic controls are selected
  • Adjustment of difficulty levels when playing certain stages in Episode Battle on lower difficulty settings
  • Adjustment of Yajirobe’s stats
  • Improved operational stability

Yajirobe’s power level isn’t the only thing being tweaked in this new Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero update. Sparking Zero gives older fans the option of playing with a Classic control scheme reminiscent of the original Dragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichi games, but some have reported unresponsive controls during online matches. Additionally, some of the more difficult Episode Battle fights have been adjusted to be less punishing when the Reduced Difficulty setting is enabled, and overall stability has been improved.

As a drawback, Replay Data of all battles, including Custom Battle World Library replays will be deleted when the latest Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero update is installed. Bandai Namco has also stated that it is looking into other major issues still plaguing the game, such as save data being corrupted when the player turns off their console. Despite these issues, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is still enjoying rave reviews and strong sales since it first launched earlier this month.
