The newest DLC for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has arrived with the June 2025 update, introducing Shallot as the latest playable fighter. Alongside this addition, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero update delivers a wave of gameplay tweaks and balance changes, refining the experience for players.
Since launching in October 2024, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has become a massive hit, selling over five million copies worldwide. A big part of its appeal is the extensive launch roster, with over 180 characters pulled from across the Dragon Ball universe. Thanks to the ongoing Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero DLC releases, the roster has now expanded past 200 fighters. On June 17, Bandai Namco surprised fans with a reveal trailer, announcing that Shallot, originally from Dragon Ball Legends, would be joining the cast on June 26. Season Pass holders, however, get to dive in early on June 23.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero: New DLC Character Shallot Explained
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is adding Shallot as a new DLC character, but some fans might not be aware of who this character is.
The June update is now live for download on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, and apart from the Shallot addition for Season Pass owners, brings several changes. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero DP Battles now make the power gap between fighters more pronounced, while Single Battles level the playing field by giving all characters equal health and removing DP-based scaling. Ranked Matches introduce a seasonal reset system, lowering ranks based on previous performance, while a new win streak bonus rewards players with extra points for consecutive victories. Custom Battle mode also receives fresh 2D cutscenes and dialogue, adding more personality to the fights.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero combat has been fine-tuned to feel smoother and more dynamic. Dash attacks now chain into follow-ups more easily when not fully charged, and unblockable Smash Ki Blasts can be countered with a Vanish. Movement tools like Dragon Dash and Quick Ascent allow for faster transitions, keeping up the pace. Several Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero fighters also see targeted changes: Turles gains stronger boosts from his Fruit of the Tree of Might, Gohan’s forms take a hit with reduced health and higher transformation costs, and Dr. Gero and Android 19 now enter Sparking! Mode when absorbing blasts but lose their previous stat boosts to keep things balanced.
Beyond Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero's core gameplay tweaks, blast interactions have been improved as rush attacks now knock back larger characters more effectively, while Flying Kicks benefit from tighter hit positioning. Two new tracks from Dragon Ball Legends also join the game’s soundtrack. With all of these updates now live, players can collect their Season 0 Ranked rewards before Season 1 kicks off on July 1, bringing fresh energy to the competitive scene.
