A good battle shonen needs strong villains, and Dragon Ball has some of the best in anime. Not only are a lot of Dragon Ball villains visually memorable, but they also prove to be great challenges for its heroes, giving fans memorable interactions and high-stakes battles.
Like most characters in the series, Dragon Ball villains each have an incredible arsenal of techniques ready to use in any confrontation. From planet-busters, to reality-warping attacks, these are the strongest villain techniques in Dragon Ball.
Dragon Ball: 7 Strongest Saiyan Techniques
Saiyans don't mess around in battle. These techniques can take almost anyone out.
Cell - Solar Kamehameha
If Cell did end up being Dragon Ball's final villain, he certainly would've ended things off on a high note. Thought by many to be the best antagonist in the series, Cell was constantly evolving, becoming more and more powerful with each form and outclassing some of Dragon Ball's strongest characters in the process.
Cell's ultimate attack, the Solar Kamehameha, nearly wiped out Earth's last-ditch hopes for survival. Even with Gohan and Goku giving it their all with the Father-Son Kamehameha, it seems like Cell has the advantage. Gohan's only able to gain the upper hand in the energy clash when Vegeta hits Cell with a Galick Blazer, causing him to lose focus and giving Gohan the chance to finish him off for good.
Kid Buu - Planet Burst
Of all the iterations of Buu, Kid Buu was hands down the strongest. With crazy battle power and an unpredictable, wild personality, Kid Buu was the greatest threat to the universe and proved to be one of the hardest villains to take down.
His Planet Burst is hands down his strongest technique, with the power to completely obliterate the Earth many times over. Similar to Frieza's Supernova, the Planet Burst is a massive ball of energy that Kid Buu flings towards his enemies, and it even absorbs weaker ki attacks. Kid Buu uses the technique to destroy Earth as well as other planets, showing off just how dangerous he is when left unchecked.
Frieza - Golden Death Ball
Frieza is probably Dragon Ball's most recognizable and impactful villain. Initially presented as the strongest being in the universe, and an oppressive and seemingly impossible-to-defeat foe, Frieza has been shown to use a number of devastating techniques in battle.
The strongest attack we've seen from him up to date has to be his Golden Death Ball. While his Supernova serves well as a planet-destroying technique, this improved take on his iconic Death Ball is much more useful in battle. Frieza uses the move against Goku in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, but is knocked back when Goku hits it with a God Kamehameha. We haven't seen much of what Frieza can do in his Black Frieza form, but you can bet that he'll have some new and even more powerful Death Ball variant ready for Goku and Vegeta.
Cell Max - Explosive Scream
Cell Max might feel like a cheap villain to some. He's presented as an even stronger Berserker version of Cell, but that doesn't feel earned, and instead just comes off as a nostalgic excuse to have Gohan once again jump to the top of the food chain.
Regardless, he is one of the strongest modern Dragon Ball villains, and his Explosive Scream technique can do some real damage. The move is similar to the Spirit Bomb, Death Ball, and Supernova, with Cell Max raising his hand to create a massive ball of energy that also has its own gravitational pull and can absorb energy similar to Android 19 and Dr. Gero, but with greater range and effect. Thankfully, Gohan was able to counter it with his own overpowered technique and once again save the day.
Goku Black - Sickle of Sorrow
Goku Black might be one of the Super anime's most memorable villains. Aside from giving us a look at an evil "Goku" (though Turles already did that years ago), Goku Black was a challenging villain who was just as scary as the real Goku when it came to combat.
His Sickle of Sorrow is arguably his strongest technique. It's a stronger version of his Violent Fierce God Slicer that Black can use when in Super Saiyan Rosé. Unlike the majority of ki attacks, this one takes the form of a weapon rather than being a straightforward blast attack. It's so powerful that it can tear open portals to other dimensions - a first for any villain technique in the series.
Fused Zamasu - Holy Wrath
As the fusion of Goku Black and Future Zamasu, Fused Zamasu is one of Dragon Ball's strongest villains. His strongest technique has to be Holy Wrath, a combination of Black's Black Power Ball and Zamasu's God Splitter.
It looks similar to attacks like Supernova and the Death Ball - a massive ball of energy that dwarfs its surroundings and has a massive area of effect. Fused Zamasu used the attack against Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Goku. It proves to be a difficult move for them to handle, but when he uses it again while mutated against Vegito Blue, the fused Saiyan makes short work of it. It's definitely an incredibly powerful attack, but not strong enough to put down Vegito.
Jiren - Omega Heat Magnetron
It doesn't really feel fair to call Jiren a villain, since he was fighting for his universe's survival. But still, he gave Goku and other Universe 7 team members a hard time, and was the toughest challenge they'd faced at that point.
There were so many moments during the Tournament of Power where Jiren seemed like he was unbeatable. One of them was definitely when he used his Omega Heat Magnetron against Goku, who, even using his Perfected Ultra Instinct, struggled against it. Jiren used the attack in his Super Full Power form, making it the strongest technique he could throw when trying his absolute best in battle.
