The Dragon Ball Genkidama Matsuri event has officially confirmed the return of the Dragon Ball Super anime. Picking up where the original Dragon Ball Super anime series left off, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime will skip adapting the Dragon Ball Super: Broly and jump right into the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc from Toyotarou's Dragon Ball Super manga.
Dragon Ball Super Anime Remake Officially Revealed For Fall 2026
A new Dragon Ball Super remake starting with a fresh adaptation of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods will release Fall 2026.
The Dragon Ball Super anime has been off the air since 2018, so the series getting an official sequel to the Tournament of Power eight years later is a huge deal. From here, Dragon Ball Super 2 will adapt the Granolah Saga, as well as the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero manga's new material. Once all that is done, the anime will finally be in new territory. By that point, Toyotarou will hopefully be finished writing the Dragon Ball Super manga's Black Frieza Saga.
The Dragon Ball Super Anime is Back With a Brand New Saga
No information has been given on a release date for Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, but the Dragon Ball Super 2 anime has officially entered production. The promotional poster features Goku and Vegeta in the art style of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero sporting the Galactic Patrol logo on their gi and armor respectively, aboard what appears to be a Galactic Patrolman ship. In the Dragon Ball Super manga, both Goku and Vegeta temporarily join the Galactic Patrolmen once the ancient wizard Moro is freed from confinement.
The Moro arc in the manga is 25 chapters long. Assuming Dragon Ball Super 2 adapts one chapter per episode, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol could theoretically run for a full 25-episode season. That said, the new Dragon Ball Super anime is more than likely to flesh out the manga's events with new material in the same way the original Dragon Ball Super anime did for Battle of Gods and Resurrection F.
The Moro Arc is the Dragon Ball Super Anime's Best Saga
The Dragon Ball Super anime returning at all is massive news, but best of all, Dragon Ball Super 2 will begin by adapting the manga's best story arc. Commonly called the Moro arc by fans, the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga stars Goku & Vegeta joining forces the Galactic Patrol to stop Moro, an ancient wizard who has the ability to absorb the energy of planets. Planet-Eater Moro is one of the most dangerous villains in Dragon Ball Super, and fighting him pushes Goku and Vegeta to their absolute limits.
Vegeta’s 7 Strongest Super Saiyan Forms in the Dragon Ball Franchise, Ranked
Vegeta doesn't have as many transformations as Goku, but that's simply because the Prince of All Saiyans doesn't need them.
The Moro arc features some of the best character development Vegeta undergoes in the entire series, while Goku gains a new martial arts master who helps him perfect Ultra Instinct. Best of all, the Moro arc finally brings the Z-Fighters back in action, giving characters like Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, and Chiaotzu opportunities to shine before the franchise's two lead Saiyans steal the show. Dragon Ball Super's new art direction and the manga's amazing storyline are sure to break the internet once Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol finally starts releasing episodes.
