January 28 should be a big day for the greater Dragon Ball Z franchise, but those specifically interested in its video games should be sure to mark their calendars. The official Dragon Ball games Twitter account recently confirmed that news for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero and Dragon Ball Z Kakarot DLC 6 will appear at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2024 event.
It should be noted that this is a multi-day event featuring anime news, celebrating the franchise’s history, hosting video game tournaments, and more, so the exact timing of this news is uncertain. It could even be before January 28; however, the tweet does highlight the Dragon Ball games panel, which would be the most logical time to reveal this information. The producers for all Dragon Ball Z games, Masayuki Hirano, and for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero specifically, Ryo Mito, are confirmed to attend this panel.
Every Saga Shown for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero So Far
While Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has not outright confirmed any story sagas quite yet, it's easy to deduce quite a few from gameplay shown so far.
What fans can expect is a bit of a crapshoot, at least for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. It is arguably the most anticipated game given it’s brand new and part of the Budokai Tenkaichi series. A release date isn’t impossible, given that versions of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero are available for pre-order at certain retailers. If that’s the case though, D ragon Ball: Sparking Zero needs to confirm its available game modes, more of its roster and stages, and any surprise elements. Right now, very little is known about the title, making this upcoming news all the more exciting.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 6 is likely to focus on the End of Z Saga, per Twitter user DBSHype. They have accurately leaked several details about the game throughout its life, from pre-release to post-launch DLC. This should still be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed, but DBSHype is more reliable than random users on the internet. While fans can reliably expect this to be revealed at the event, what it shows should also serve to be pretty interesting.
That’s because the End of Z saga is incredibly short compared to every other DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, most of which are shortened incredibly already. The End of Z Saga is also known as the Peaceful World saga, and it is sometimes seen as the tail end of the Majin Buu Saga instead of a standalone component. In essence, it’s just Goku meeting Uub and ending the DBZ franchise. In this way, it could perhaps set up Dragon Ball GT content for future DBZ Kakarot DLC.
While these two games are confirmed to get new reveals, it’s not impossible something like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 or Dragon Ball FighterZ does as well. The panel is set to last for roughly 2.5 hours after all. Dragon Ball Z games of recent years have gotten tons of support, as seen with the constant DLC additions to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and story content added to DBZ: Kakarot. It wouldn’t be surprising, but at the very least, news on DBZ: Kakarot DLC and Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is more than enough for some fans to keep their ears to the ground.
