A fix has been issued for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot that should allow Xbox One players to upgrade to the Xbox Series X/S, nearly a month after the next-gen versions of the game launched. Bandai Namco's plan to launch both Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as the Bardock Alone Against Fate DLC unfortunately led to some serious technical issues. Hopefully, the worst of those issues are now resolved or will be soon. The issues stem from the rocky launch of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S even prior to January 13. On January 12, Bandai Namco announced it was delaying the release of the Season 2/DLC 4 update for Xbox Series X/S indefinitely and that physical editions of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will only support Xbox One, as the Xbox Series X/S upgrade was also being delayed. While there were also issues for PS5 Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot players trying to upgrade, Xbox issues were more severe and have persisted since. Bandai Namco Entertainment believes it has now solved the issues related to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot on Xbox Series X/S, three weeks after it was supposed to launch. A patch arriving today, February 3, is said to resolve issues related to the Xbox Series X/S release of the game. After receiving the patch, players should be able to upgrade to the Xbox Series X/S version of the game.
Further, due to the resolved upgrade issue, Bandai Namco will be resuming sales of the Bardock Alone Against Fate DLC on Xbox Series X/S. Some players deigned to wait for the upgrade to be finished, rather than play the Xbox One version. Bandai Namco says that it appreciates the patience of players who have been waiting.
The Bardock Alone Against Fate DLC has players take on the role of Goku's father, recreating the experience of the Dragon Ball Z anime special episode "Bardock: The Father of Goku." That includes a new Planet Vegeta map to explore with locations including various Saiyan settlements and the Frieza Army Base.
As exciting as the Bardock DLC is, the upgrade was always more about the improvements made to the base Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot game itself. Significant visual improvements have been made across the entire game. Better yet, the upgrade from Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S is entirely free. As soon as the patch arrives today, Dragon Ball Z fans on Xbox should be able to experience the improvements themselves.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
