Monster wrangling is a key component in Dragon Quest Monster’s third installment, DQM: The Dark Prince. Players will take on a new adventure as Psaro and work to build the strongest Monster army in Nadiria. Scouting Monsters is one way to fill the ranks, or players can Synthesize Monsters to get new species.
Synthesizing in DQM: The Dark Prince is a fusion method that combines two Monsters to make a new one. Players won’t have access to Synthesis at the beginning of their playthrough, but this guide has everything they need to know to unlock it and get stronger Monsters.
How to Unlock Synthesis in DQM: The Dark Prince
Before players can unlock Synthesis, they must progress in the storyline. Psaro is a novice Monster wrangler, so they must learn the ropes and train to build his reputation and skills. His first challenge will be taking on the Colosseum in Endor.
Players will compete in two tournaments. Each one consists of three battles against different Monster wranglers. The first tournament is Category G arena and takes place right after the tutorial with Fizzy.
The Monsters in Category G are low level, so if players have a complete Main Party level 5 or higher, they will have a good chance of winning on their first try. The second tournament, Category F arena, opens after Category G is complete.
Players will want to train up for Category F since the Monsters are stronger, and they will have to take on a Large Monster, which is significantly stronger. When players win the tournament, they will join forces with an elf named Rose and be able to travel to other realms.
The next step to unlocking Synthesis is to follow the story quests until players travel to Nadiria. They must then compete in a third tournament at the Maulosseum. After players clear the Category G arena in the Maulosseum, they will get access to Synthesis.
How to Fuse Monsters
Players can only Synthesize Monsters by talking to Monty inside the Rosehill Tower Basement. Monty gives them two options:
- Synthesis
- Reverse Search
If players choose Synthesis, they will be taken to a menu with all their scouted Monsters eligible for fusion. Only Monsters level 10 or higher can be Synthesized. Players must choose two Monsters to see their possible offspring.
Once players are happy with their choice, they will confirm the Monster they want to make. Then, they get to pick three Talents for the new Monster inherited from the parent Monsters. The Synthesized Monster will be level one.
If players choose Reverse Search, they will see all possible Synthesis monsters using a set of filters. When they choose one, the parents will be revealed, and they can decide whether they want to go through with the fusion.
Players can also talk to Royston in the Basement to access the Monster Depot when they finish Synthesizing to swap their Monsters around. Also included in Rosehill Tower is Fizzy with online features and a teleportation circle on the second floor.
