Best Pawns To Pair With Mage In Dragon’s Dogma 2

The best Pawns to include in a Mage team should consist of a Fighter with the Shield Drum Weapon Skill or a Warrior with the Roar Weapon Skill. Both Vocations act as tanks that can take attention away from their team and can deliver hard-hitting Melee blows. Pulling enemies to attack will eventually lead the Fighter or Warrior to be hurt and Mages are the ideal candidate to heal them. The two Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 have a strong synergy together.

Only your character can have the Mystic Spearhand, Trickster, Magick Archer, and Warfarer Vocations.

Since tanking and healing roles are fulfilled, go for Mystic Spearhand or Trickster since they possess strong Crowd Control Skills that can restrict enemies from attacking. This can come in handy against big bosses that hit really hard. Mystic Spearhand has a strong DPS with a drop of supportive abilities, which helps the team be more offensive. As for the Trickster, it's purely supportive by strongly controlling the battlefield. They buff allies, control enemies, and can even be useful during travel.

For pure DPS, hire an Archer, Sorcerer, or a Thief. They’re purely all about dealing damage and hitting opponents where it hurts. Archers deal significant damage by hitting weak points while they mainly focus on hitting enemies with explosive and poisonous arrows. Sorcerers are very similar to Mages but with pure offensive spells that command the elements to deal greater damage. As for thieves, they’re the ultimate solution to dealing with everything since they’re experts at climbing the big creatures and erasing the small ones.

Best Teams For Mages In Dragon’s Dogma 2

Here are some examples of good teams to build around your Mage in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Mage + Warrior + Trickster + Thief

In this Mage team, everyone is working for the thief to be as comfortable as possible. The Warrior has a lot of charging Skills and can play a one-man army style of gameplay to take off pressure from the thief. The thief Pawn moves around with many sneaky Skills that can synergize perfectly with the Trickster’s fogs and illusions. The main pawn should be the Thief since you can have more freedom in customizing the Pawn’s Skills and approach to battle. Finally, focus on a Mage that can help the team recover their HP while constantly applying shields to prevent them from being hit.

Mage + Fighter + Warrior + Archer

For a more early-game approach, it’s best to have your main Pawn to be the Archer since they have so many offensive Skills, and you’d want the best ones to be equipped. Go with the Fighter and the Warrior together to strongly hold the front lines while you heal them and protect them from taking hard damage. The Warrior pushes and pulls enemies a lot while the Fighter punishes them for attacking. Both Pawns will allow you and the Archer to leave each combat untouched, since they will endlessly draw attention to them, and that’s exactly what the Archer needs to deliver their killing blows.
