Duplicating items to make forgeries was a staple feature of the first Dragon’s Dogma, and it made a return in Dragon’s Dogma 2 as well. The system allows players to make fake copies of real items and use the fakes to dupe NPCs in various ways. Some NPCs are smarter than others and catch on quickly if they’re handed a forgery. Figuring who to give which version of an item is part of the fun.
Players interested in the forgery system will want to know who to talk to and which items are worth making duplicates of. Here's everything you need to know.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Where To Find A Beastren Mask
A Beastren Mask is needed for humans trying to enter the region of Battahl through the main gate in Dragon's Dogma 2; here's where to find one.
Forgery Shop Location
The Forgery Shop, Ibrahim’s Scrap Store, can be found in Checkpoint Rest Town, at the border of Vermund and Battahl. You’ll find the Scrap Store in the western section of town, just past the Vocation Guild and Weapons Shop and down the slope to the right. The fastest route to Checkpoint Rest Town is by using western Oxcart in Vernworth for 200 Gold. Or, if you’re in Battahl, you can take the Bakbattahl Oxcart (also for 200 Gold).
How To Duplicate Items
- Talk to the shopkeeper at Ibrahim’s Scrap Store and select ‘Request a Forgery’.
- Pick out the item you want to make a duplicate of.
- Ibrahim will charge you a fee for the forgery, which is visible at the bottom of this menu as ‘Fabrication Cost.’ The higher the value of the item, the more gold it’ll cost to make the forgery.
- Wait a day (you can doze off on the bench next to the shop).
- Talk to Ibrahim again and select ‘Take Forgery’.
Best Items To Duplicate
Duplicate items don’t retain the intrinsic abilities of the originals. This means a forgery of a Ferrystone (Ferristone) will not let you fast-travel, and a fake Portcrysal (Partcrystal) won’t work either. Items whose value lies in what they can do instead of what they are are useless as forgeries. Considering this, here are all the ways this system can be used.
Items duplicated during the Sphinx’s Riddle of Madness trial can do everything the original can do.
Quest Items
Some side quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2 involve quest items that need to be given to a certain NPC. In some cases, more than one person is willing to offer a reward for the same item. Making a forgery of the quest item and offering a fake to one party and the real one to the other can allow players to rake in all possible quest rewards. Here are some examples.
- Jadeite Orb (Quest: Hunt for the Jadeite Orb): Give the real orb to Everard and the fake one to Offulve.
- 5 Spell Grimoires (Quests: Spellbound/The Sorcerer’s Appraisal): Give the real books to Trysha and the fake ones to Myrddin.
- On the Transference of Souls 2 (Quest: Short-Sighted Ambition): Give the real book for the ‘bad’ ending and the fake book for the ‘good’ ending.
- Gaol Key (Quest: The Caged Magistrate): Captain Brant gives you an infinite-use unbreakable Gaol Key during this quest and takes it back at the end of it. Hand him back the fake key to keep the real one at the end of the quest.
Consumables/Enhancement Materials
Most items cannot be used like the original once they’re duplicated. The exception to this rule is Consumables and materials. Duplicating an
Allheal Elixir will give you an additional fully functional, ready-to-drink Allheal Elixir. And if you’re just short of a single Whitecobble to upgrade a weapon or armor piece, a duplicate Whitecobble works just as well as the real deal.
