Having an enormous map size can be exciting to explore but can also be troublesome when navigating to a specific item or gear piece. Dragon's Dogma 2 has numerous resources and materials scattered across its world, allowing players to venture into the regions and acquire them with the help of their pawns.
Black Crystal is a material required for the enhancement of weapons and armor pieces. It is one of the rarer materials in the game, being available in only a few areas accessible via gold or by exploring a dangerous cave. This guide includes all the details on how to find the material as a drop and the merchant that sells it.
Dragon's Dogma 2: All Portcrystal Locations (& How to Get Portable Portcrystals)
Players who enjoy fast traveling in Dragon's Dogma 2 can find the locations of all the permanent and portable Portcrystals detailed here.
How To Find Black Crystal In Dragon's Dogma 2
To acquire a Black Crystal, you must first make your way to Melve. Head to Borderwatch Outpost and then northeast towards the Ultramarine Waterfall, where you can find the Waterfall Cave. The Waterfall Cave consists of three floors, all of which are filled with Saurian enemies mostly. The first floor has a Gorechimera boss that can be avoided as it has five health bars and can be punishing for low-level players.
Explore the cave and make your way to the second floor of the Cave, where you can find a chest. Interact with it and open it to summon Wight, an undead Sorcerer who is a three-health bar boss. This boss can be quite challenging and annoying at times as well, because they can fly, making melee vocations such as Fighters and Warriors harder to attack the boss. Vocations such as Mages and Archers should not have a problem taking it down.
One of their deadliest attacks is the Cyclone attack, which can take out your entire health bar if you are not cautious. Thankfully, the majority of the time, the boss only performs this attack when they reach the last health bar. Even if the boss is close to dying, it is best to avoid getting close during the Cyclone attack. After defeating the boss, you will be able to pick up the loot and have a chance of getting Black Crystal along with body armor for Mages.
Dragon's Dogma 2: All Pawn Inclinations (& What They Do)
Inclinations will determine how pawns will act in battle, and here all of the inclinations in Dragon's Dogma 2 along with what they do.
Where To Buy Black Crystal
Black Crystal can not only be dropped as loot but can also be purchased from merchants. The first thing you need to do is to reach Checkpoint Rest Town by hitching an Oxcart from the Western Oxcart Station in Vernworth. Upon reaching Rest Town, instead of going through the Checkpoint into Battahl, head northeast of the town and keep following the path to reach the Ancient Battleground. Here, you will find a Drake and a Cyclops fighting. It is advisable not to fight the dragon if you are under-leveled, as any of its attacks can take out your entire health bar.
Going past the campsite, you will find an NPC that is getting attacked by some monsters. Deal with them, and Oskar will ask you to escort him to the Cenopath in the Ancient Battleground. This will start the Quest "Tolled to Rest," and you will have to follow him up and deal with the numerous skeletons that come your way. Soon, you will reach the destination where he rings the bell. This will complete the quest, giving you 3000 XP, 9000 Gold , and the Ancient Battleground Key. You can also pick up the Nation's Death Knell from up ahead. You can also open up a chest here to find the Makeshift Vault key that opens Vermund's Vault.
With the Ancient Battleground Key in hand, head outside the room and take a left to open the locked door. Behind the door, you will find more chests, inside of which you find
Ferrystone and
Infernal Edge, which is a weapon that can be equipped by the Mystic Spearhand. After the Escort quest, head up, and you will find a sleeping Armored Cyclops. Defeat it to acquire Meloirean Cyclops Veil (Head Armor) and a chest behind with Black Matter (Weapon). Both of these gears are for Warrior Vocation.
Near the Armored Cyclops, you can find Folkes, a wandering merchant who is selling two Black Crystals costing 1,600 Gold each. If you do not find the merchant, wait a little while, as he is bound to wander around after some time.
