Despite lacking a sophisticated crime mechanic, Dragon's Dogma 2 still has systems in place that punish players who get their hands a little too dirty. Commiting crime or performing misdemeanors will often earn the Arisen the ire of the local authorities, prompting guards to either arrest or kill them on the spot.

Everything to know about Seeker's Tokens in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Some essential parts of the story, such as Dragon's Dogma 2's Unsettling Encounter main quest, will have players doing some very suspicious activity. When the guards come, players will have to find a way to make it out alive if they want to avoid jail time or a reload to a previous save point. Here's how to do so.

How to Lose Guard Aggro In Dragon's Dogma 2

Simply (and ironically) enough, all you need to do to shake the guards off your tail is to run away. Do everything in your power to break line of sight, and they'll eventually lose you and stop their pursuit. Pawns in Dragon's Dogma 2 may try to fight the guards off — if you don't want to spill any blood, order your companions to come to you, and they'll disengage. This tactic works against all monsters and NPCs in the open world too.

Once the guards stop chasing you, they'll completely forget what you did wrong before. They'll treat you like any law-abiding citizen, and you'll be able to walk freely despite your previous crimes. It's unknown if this is an intended mechanic, but as of writing, running away is the only real solution to when law enforcement is after you. A number of activities can count as a crime, including:

  • Opening chests
  • Trespassing
  • Drawing your weapons in public
  • Attacking civilians
  • Ignoring noble etiquette

How To Get Out Of Jail

If you have unfortunately gotten arrested, you'll be stripped of your equipment and thrown in a gaol cell. There's not much you can do once you're stuck here, and if you want to escape, you have two options.

The first is to bribe a passing guard. Wait for someone to pass by, then speak with them. This can get very expensive, and it appears that the bribe cost scales with how much money you have in your pockets. Once you've paid the bribe, you're free to go. Make sure to grab your gear on the way out. If you end up reeling from paying a bribe, luckily, there are some ways to get gold fast in Dragon's Dogma 2.

The second method is to use a Makeshift Gaol Key, which is sold by certain merchants like the one in Melve. Each key is single-use only, and they cost 3,000 Gold a piece. If you have the coin to spare, it may be worth getting one as an insurance measure.
