Dredge's Figure in Red pursuit is initiated by speaking with the hooded figure on the island in the southeast corner of L14. While it is not requisite that players complete this side quest, those that do will receive a book as a reward for their efforts. For those fans that would like to claim that prize, this guide contains full details on how to complete the Figure in Red pursuit in Dredge.
To note, this pursuit, along with the others that are offered by hooded figures, is on a timer. As such, fans that have initiated the Figure in Red pursuit should make haste, or they may find that the hooded figure has passed away before they have turned in the final fish. While that outcome will not keep fans from earning the achievement that requires completion of all Dredge's pursuits, it will prevent them from earning the aforementioned book reward.
Dredge: Where to Find Cusk Eel
The hooded figure's first request is for a Cusk Eel, and this Volcanic creature can be caught around the Devil's Spine at night. For those players that would like a specific coordinate to target, there is a Cusk Eel fishing spot in the northeast corner of N14, and Volcanic rods and nets are both capable of catching the creature.
Dredge: Where to Find Sailfish
After returning the Cusk Eel to the hooded figure in L14, players will be tasked with catching a Sailfish. This Oceanic fish can be found around The Marrows during the day, and there is a spot in the center of I8. As with the Cusk Eel, the Sailfish can be caught with both rods and nets, though players will need to use an Oceanic variant for this particular Dredge fish.
Dredge: Where to Find Frilled Shark
The last creature that Dredge players must catch in order to complete the Figure in Red pursuit is the Frilled Shark. Fans can find this Volcanic fish around the Devil's Spine, both during the day and at night, and indeed there is a spot in the center of N13. Notably, the Frilled Shark can only be obtained with a rod.
As previously mentioned, players that return all three requests to the hooded figure will receive a book, which is titled Nautical Engineering. For those players that are curious, this book reduces the speed at which equipment loses durability, making pots and nets more efficient overall. While this is a nice bonus to earn, players should not be too concerned if the hooded figure passes away before they have completed Figure in Red, as it is certainly possible to reach Dredge's ending without it.
Dredge is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
