Photo mode is a feature that was added to Dredge with the release of the v1.2.0 update on July 6, 2023. To unlock this feature, players must help a character known as the Photographer, who is located on an island to the south of the Marrows. This guide is here to showcase the precise position of that island, and it will help players find and assist the Photographer in Dredge.

Dredge: Photographer Location

The Photographer can be found on the island at the southeast corner of K4, just south of the Marrows in Dredge. More specifically, she is at the Expedition Site situated at the northwest corner of that island, and fans should dock at this location upon arrival. Players should then select the Photographer to initiate a conversation in which she reveals that she lost some lenses during a recent trip.

Dredge: Unlocking Photo Mode

At the core of unlocking Dredge's photo mode is recovering the Photographer's lenses, which are on the beach at the southwest corner of I5. While this location will be highlighted on the in-game map after speaking with the Photographer, it has been on the marked on the map that is below for the sake of full clarity.

Upon reaching this location, players will find an assortment of crates and cases atop the sand, and inspecting that debris will reveal the Photography Equipment. Players should take that equipment aboard and then return it to the Photographer at K4. This action will unlock the Camera ability, which fans can use from Dredge's ability radial menu in order to start composing photos.

With respect to what players should capture first with their brand-new ability, the game's various wildlife encounters act as great photo opportunities. Indeed, these encounters are some of the most cinematic moments in the game, and Dredge fans can find out more about them by exploring the Photographer's dialogue options. Players are also likely to run into wildlife naturally, provided that they put some amount of effort toward exploring the map.

To note, players that really want to push the limits of the game's photo mode may want to consider activating passive mode, which was also released as part of the v1.2.0 update. Indeed, this feature makes it possible to approach Dredge's hostile creatures without any fear of repercussions, and it can lead to some very fine photos. For those players that are interested in giving this a try, passive mode can be activated from within Settings at any time.

Dredge is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
