For those diving into the sands of Dune: Awakening, here are some useful beginner tips to help them in their adventure.

In this full walkthrough, players will find all the information they need to complete the Water Fat mission, including the best possible infiltration route inside the Water Shipper's Manor, and how to avoid the annoying spotlights.

How to Start Water Fat in Dune Awakening

To start the Water Fat mission in Dune: Awakening, players will need to speak to Elara Tuek to grab their next assassination contract. She will tell them about a Water Shipper near Arrakeen, that needs to be taken down, and give them a poison injector to contaminate his water supply.

Before proceeding, make sure to bring a Cutteray, a JABAAL Spitdart Sniper (or better) with enough Heavy Darts, a Suspensor belt like the Emperor Wings, and a mobility skill like Bindu Sprint or Shigawire Claw.

To proceed with the mission, finish talking with Elara and travel to world map with an Ornithopter then press M to locate the Water Shipper's Manor, which right outside Arrakeen. Fly to the location indicated in the map and approach the node to enter with the Ornithopter.

Dune Awakening: 7 Most Useful Items In The Tutorial

Dune: Awakening is a challenging survival MMO, and right from the tutorial, players will acquire several key items that they will need to progress.

How to Infiltrate the Manor

After a brief cutscene, players will be debriefed by Elara Tuek on what they need to do. The map is a huge fortress filled with guards with snipers, patrolling troopers, and enormous reflectors that scour the zone and track the player, then launch an alarm and trap them on sight. The reflectors will spot players, paralize them, and send them back to the starting point, so watch how they move and avoid the light.

Reflector light will make a distinctive noise when it detects the players, and they will have 1.5 seconds to either escape or hide away from the light, or they will be paralyzed and sent to the checkpoint.

To breach into the fortress, look for the scaffolding in the right side of the wall from the spawning point, then run using Bindu Sprint or Shigawire Claw to avoid the reflector and reach the stairs. Climb on top of the wall to the first checkpoint, then Elara will tell the players to look for her contact inside the manor.

First Checkpoint and Elara's Contact Location

The NPC named Yargun can be found standing between the paths of two reflectors, standing on a platform right in the open. But players need to dispose of two enemies patrolling the zone using a long range weapon before approaching to speak with him.

If enemy soldiers detect players, a countdown of 30 seconds will begin, and after that they will be sent to the nearest checkpoint. To avoid this, kill the enemies that are engaged in combat and hide in the shadows. If the countdown doesn't dissappear means that there's another enemy spotting them from afar, so snipe them out.

After that, he will tell them that they need to either find a hidden cave to enter the manor through the underground, or go right above him to avoid some reflectors and kill their way inside. That's the most dangerous approach, and will require avoiding more reflectors and sniping the guards. So the recommended path lies to the left of the NPC, across the poppy fields and into the entrance to the Underground Passage.

Dune: Awakening Hands-On Preview - Beginnings Are Such Delicate Times

After six hours with Dune: Awakening, it's clear I have only scratched the surface of the open-world survival game—for better or worse.

Looking For The Underground Passage

Players should choose the underground infiltration approach to speed things up. Once they finish speaking with Yargu, head to the left side of the Poppy field, avoiding the reflectors and killing the guards with a sniper to avoid detection. There's a tunnel intersection where players can hide to wait for the two reflectors to pass, and kill the enemy standing guard on the cave entrance with a sniper while they wait. Once the two lights are away, make a run for it and enter the cave.

Players will find a blast door that needs to be opened with a cutteray. If they happened to have forgotten their cutterays, there are a few scrap metal pieces laying on the floor nearby, so players can grab them and craft a makeshift cutteray. Once inside the cave tunnel, avoid the toxic gas mines and keep moving forward until the first fork, then turn left to reach a dead end. If players enter from the opposite side, they will still reach a the same dead end at some point, if they stumble with another blast door, then they should backtrack and find the dead end to proceed.

Now look at the stone of the dead end closely, grab the Cutteray and scan it for structural instability. Cut through the lines to break the rock and proceed forward through another tunnel. Watch out for the quicksand puddles, keep close to the walls to step on the small rocks and avoid sinking.

How to Reach The Water Container to Inject the Poison

Once on the end of the new tunnel, grab the Cutteray one last time to break the rock wall and enter a new stealth zone. There will be more reflectors and more guards. Snipe the guards, stick to the right and avoid all the lights, then keep close to the wall until finding a door. Cross the door to find the next stealth area, kill the guard patrolling the middle and dash through the two reflectors to the next door. In the next zone, there will be the objective of the mission: The water container players need to poison.

Approach the water container and interact with it to see a cutscene, where the Water Shipper will appear, revealing an uncomfortable truth to the players and making them doubt their allegiance. Once the target is dead, the alarms will go off, and the guards will rush to kill the players. Don't fight, just run outside the room, then to the right and cross the field to the landing pad on the right, board the Ornithopter to finish the mission. Once back in Harko Village, players will receive their rewards and will be able to debrief Elara Tuek for the next and last of the Assassination Contracts.
