Dune: Awakening will receive a new hotfix on September 18 to fix a frustrating bug that has caused invisible items to appear in players’ inventories, preventing them from placing anything in seemingly empty slots. Since its launch on June 10, Dune: Awakening has struggled with persistent bugs. Fortunately, Funcom has generally been prompt in addressing these issues as they crop up, preventing them from getting out of hand.

Funcom’s announcement comes on the heels of Hotfix 3 for Patch 1.2.0.0, which, in addition to tackling several problems with Dune: Awakening’s Landsraad contracts and the Deep Desert, also addressed the inventory bug. At the time, Funcom revealed that the root cause behind the bug that caused invisible items to take up space in players’ inventories was identified and a fix had been implemented to prevent it from happening again. However, players whose inventories were already bugged were told to wait until a future update. With the September 18 hotfix, it looks like Funcom may finally be able to deliver a permanent solution.

Dune: Awakening Invisible Inventory Bug Fix Coming on September 18

On Twitter, the official Dune: Awakening account confirmed that the invisible inventory bug will be fixed during the downtime scheduled from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM CEST on September 18. To avoid complications, players are advised to empty their personal inventories before logging out. Storage containers and vehicle space remain unaffected by the issue, and are great locations to safely store these items as long as they are kept inside a player’s base in Dune: Awakening.

The invisible inventory bug has been around for quite some time now, with many players reporting bugged personal storage in various formats. In order to resolve these issues, players have formulated their own creative workarounds to hard reset their inventories. Some found success by changing the sorting format, others by using the Respawn feature, and a few even resorted to sacrificing their lives to Dune: Awakening’s sandworms to remove invisible junk from their inventories.

Other than some surprisingly resilient bugs and issues like this one, Dune: Awakening has had a moderately successful post-launch period. Although the game hasn’t managed to recapture the same level of popularity as it saw at release, it has retained a decently sized, loyal community for itself. Better yet, Dune: Awakening’s Lost Harvest DLC and free Chapter 2’s release with Patch 1.2.0.0 saw a resurgence in interest, an encouraging sign for the MMO’s long-term future.
