Building a sturdy base is one of the main mechanics in Dune Awakening, which is why it's one of the first things players will be doing. While progressing towards the end-game, you'll unlock larger vehicles like the Buggy and Ornithopters, which won't fit inside your base through regular doors. So, this is the point where you'll need to invest in Pentashields to make entryways for your larger vehicles, and keep them safe from sandstorms. Here's how to craft and install them in your base.

How to Unlock Pentashields in Dune Awakening
To install Pentashields in your base, you'll first have to unlock its schematics in the Research menu in Dune Awakening. Their schematics will only become available to research once you reach the steel tier of equipment, which is when you move towards the Eastern Vermilious Gap region.
Once you've researched the Pentashields, they'll be available for you to craft with the construction tool. There are a total of three types of Pentashields available in Dune: Awakening.
- Pentalshield Surface Vertical
- Pentashield Surface Horizontal
- Prudence Door
How to Install Pentashields in Your Base
To install a Pentalshield in your base, you'll first need the required materials for it in Dune: Awakening. Here's a list of required materials to build Pentalshields.
- 2x Steel Ingots (Use Ore Refinery to combine Iron Ingots and Carbon Ores)
- 20x Cobalt Paste (Use Chemical Refinery to process Erythrite Crystals)
- 6x Calibrated Servok (Found in common containers in Jabal Eifrit region)
Once you've gathered the resources above, select either the vertical or horizon Pentalshield and place it in the corner of an entryway. Once placed, drag the shield to the other corner of the entryway, to the point where it covers it completely. Verify its placement first, then confirm your selection by investing the materials in it, and finally, build it in your base.
Pentashields aren't like regular doors, and they consume power depending on the size of the entryway they're covering. To check the Pentashield's power usage, simply approach any one of its corners and access its settings. You can view the power consumption in this menu, as well as manage the access level for the Pentashield to allow specific individuals access through it.
If you abruptly lose power after building a Pentashield, you'll need to create more power sources for your base, like generators or wind turbines.
