PC Release for Dune: Awakening Announced, Consoles TBA
The trailer also focused on the various gameplay mechanics the game will have. Dune: Awakening is set on an alternate timeline Arrakis, where House Harkonnen remains in power. Players will create a nameless prisoner who escapes to a deserters camp, taking hold of their own life among the dunes. Whether alone or co-op, players will need to gather resources, build a base, and fight various enemies to survive.
The Sword Master combat style was highlighted, in which players head into the fray first, utilize a shield to negate damage, then take out all enemies. Players will even be able to use a Hunter Seeker to finish off foes from a distance. The only things they can't kill in Dune: Awakening are the sand worms, so extra care is needed when gathering Spice. For those interested in more battles, players can pledge allegiance to House Harkonnen for additional content.
When it comes to base building, upgrading and expanding available technology will allow players to obtain the Blood Purifier in Dune: Awakening, which processes blood into drinkable water. Bases can be saved as blueprints, allowing for easy relocation. Blueprints can also be sold to other players, giving those gifted builders another method of making money in-game and giving those that prefer combat a way to quickly obtain a functional camp.
