The first major update for Dune: Awakening introduces players to a host of new quests as part of Chapter 2 and the Lost Harvest DLC. One of the first quests, called Proces-Verbal, will send players on a hunt for a killer that's loose in Arakeen. The victim is Osten Laithe, as he's been found dead in the upper section of the Salusan Bull bar. You'll need to investigate the circumstances around Osten's death and report your findings to the Chief Investigator, Sub-Prefect Tors.

How to Start the Proces-Verbal Quest in Dune: Awakening (Meet the Chief Investigator)
When players log into Dune: Awakening after the update and step out into the open, they'll be visited by Zantara's pet bat. Shortly after the interaction, you'll receive a call from Elara Tuek, who'll ask you to meet her at Harko Village, which will start the Chapter 2 questline. After reaching Harko Village and meeting Elara, players will then check out a cutscene with Count Fenring, as he'll set them on a path to find a killer that's loose in Arakeen.
This will start the Proces-Verbal quest, which will require players to travel to Arakeen and talk to the Chief Investigator, Sub-Prefect Tors. Once you agree to work with the Investigator, he'll send you to find Osten Laithe on the upper section of the Salusan Bull.
Where to Find Osten Laithe (Gain Access to the Private Room)
After reaching the Upper Salusan Bull, players will need to find Osten Laiden get access to the private room located in the leftmost area of the bar. To do that, speak to Ugo Firenze, who can be found at the top of the staircase you've just walked up from.
If you can't talk to Ugo about private rooms, make sure to interact with the Drunken Atreides Officer in the middle of the room, as he'll mention the private room mid-conversation.
Ask Ugo about the private rooms, and mention that Sub-Prefect Tor has tasked you to find the engineer in question. He'll reveal the fact that Osten Laithe has been found dead in the room, which is why it's on lockdown. However, he'll reluctantly give access to the room to you.
Investigate Osten Laithe's Body & Scan the Room for Clues
Once you get inside the private room, you'll spot a recorder on the table to your right, and Osten Laithe's body slouched over the sofa to the left. Interact with the recorder to hear the message, and interact with the body to start the investigation. Players will need to examine all the parts of Osten Laithe's body to figure out the cause of death. In addition to the body, make sure to examine the following items located inside the room as well.
- The book that's placed on the table, in front of the body.
- The food pot that's next to the book.
- The wine carafe that's on the opposite table from the body.
- The main table with scrolls and notes placed on it.
Once you're done investigating the body and the room for clues, exit the area.
Right outside the room, to the left, you'll find Hester Klimt, whom you can talk to about the death of Osten Laithe to further the investigation. However, she refuse to believe there was foul play, and you'll have to gather medical evidence to confirm your suspicions.
Get the Poison Snooper & Prove Foul Play
The phase of the investigation in the Proces-Verbal quest is to substantiate the claims of foul play using a medical instrument. So, you'll need to follow the quest marker and meet Dr. Shaffat in Dune Awakening. Inform her about Osten Laithe's demise, and she'll recommend that you get a Poison Snooper tool to analyze the body for any toxins.
Dr. Shaffat is the NPC in Arakeen that players can talk to and re-customize their characters in Dune Awakening.
So, head to the entrance of Arakeen and purchase the tool for 100 Solari from the vendors to the left. Return to the private room and use the Poison Snooper to analyze Osten Laithe's body, especially the mouth and hand areas. Once you're done, analyze the Book in front of the body with the Poison Snooper to finish gathering evidence of foul play.
Interrogate Witnesses in Upper Salusan Bull Again
The final phase of the quest is to interrogate all the witnesses to the crime and share your evidence of foul play with them to get some information. Here are all the people that you must interact with to progress through the Proces-Verbal quest in Dune Awakening.
- Hester Klimt: Standing to the left of the private room, near the balcony.
- Ugo Firenze: Standing near the stairway used to enter the upper section of Salusan Bull.
- Ambrose Lucifera: Standing to the left of the bar, in front of an engraved picture of fishes.
- Alastair Christian Chim (Barkeep): Finally, talk to the barkeep himself to finish the interrogation procedure.
To finish the Proces-Verbal quest in Dune Awakening, players must head back to report their findings to Sub-Prefect Tor. This will unlock the next quest in Chapter 2, A Touch of Evil.
