Summary
- Playing as a Rogue in Dungeonborne requires skill and strategy to effectively use poison and stealth to dominate battles.
- Different builds like Duelist, Poison Master, Sniper, and Scoundrel offer unique playstyles and team compositions for success.
- Each Rogue build has its strengths and weaknesses, so players must be cautious of their counters and adjust tactics accordingly.
The Rogue is a master of deception and infiltration, able to move fast, strike hard, and retreat before enemies know it is even there. Using poison to petrify and maim their opponents, this master of the shadows is a force to be reckoned with, though its main features are critical hits and stealth. Rogues tend to be squishy, and easy to overwhelm by cornering them against the walls of a dungeon.
However, playing a Rogue can be tricky, especially if players want to be useful for their teams. These are some of the best builds and tactics players can use to make the most of this class in Dungeonborne, allowing them to move freely, avoid direct confrontations, and use poison to terrorize their surprised victims. It's time for some cloak and dagger.
1 Duelist
Adept Skirmisher, Great At Parrying And Countering
- Strong Points: Good At 1v1 And PvE
- Weak Points: Vulnerable To Range Damage
- Main Stats: Dexterity, Strength
- Secondary Stats: Stamina
This build focuses on charged attacks with dual-wielded swords and has two daggers as secondary weapons for backstab attacks. Maximizing Dexterity will guarantee fast movement through the dungeon, as well as access to the most useful passives for this build: Evaporate and Featherfoot. For skills, Quick Blades and Swift Concealment will help deal with pesky ranged enemies like Scarabs and Ghosts.
Dungeonborne: How To Change Appearance
Dungeonborne lets players redo their character's appearance later on if you want to change up how they look; here's how to do it.
Evaporate will trigger an automatic short-term stealth each time the Rogue kills an enemy, while Featherfoot gives a considerable speed boost each time the Rogue enters stealth. This will allow players to consistently defend from attacks while they eliminate enemies one by one with charged attacks. This a relatively easy build to play with its Strength perks Stealthbreak Venom (Str 29) and Ambush (Str 60).
The best team composition for this build includes a Fighter and a Priest. Its counters are Death Knights, Fighters, and Swordmasters.
2 Poison Master
Using Poison To Weaken Its Foes Or Counter Healers
- Strong Points: Good At Dot, Great For PvE and PvP
- Weak Points: Frail, Easy Target
- Main Stats: Dexterity, Strength
- Secondary Stats: Will
The Poison Master uses Will as a secondary stat to maximize skill damage. As poison DoT damage seems to scale with Skill Damage, it's wise to invest in this stat to maximize the effect of Stealthbreak Venom. Using equipment with the Tiny Torment set will trigger even more DoT as true damage every time the Rogue makes a direct hit.
Use Petrifying Poison and Swift Concealment as the main skills. This will allow for easy flanking front liners and countering of healers, or establish a good position to cause poison damage to range damage dealers using a Crossbow shot. It is wise to carry Incendiary or Thunderclap Flasks to create a more consistent Area DoT or impair the retreat of the enemy team.
The Poison Master is great when accompanied by a Cryomancer and a Death Knight. Watch out for Pyromancers, Swordmasters, and Druids, as they are its natural counters.
3 Sniper
Ranged Menace, Perfect Counter For Mages
- Strong Points: Best Range Damage Dealer
- Weak Points: Frail, Easily Countered By Rushing
- Main Stats: Dexterity, Strength
- Secondary Stats: Stamina
Maximizing Dexterity with this ranged build will allow for powerful targeted shots from the shadows. Enemies will be surprised by a bolt to the head with considerably increased damage, empowered by the Stealthbreak Venom and the increased damage bonus from Stealth. This build carries dual swords as secondary weapons to fend off attackers, and the best tactic to play it is to remain on the sidelines of combat, sniping opponents from the safety of the shadows.
Dungeonborne: How To Trade Items
Items that players find and extract with can be sold once they are back in camp; here's how to sell items and auction them in Dungeonborne.
It is important to mention that Evaporate can be triggered if a teammate kills the same target that the Rogue was attacking, which can create a good synergy with Cryomancers or Swordmasters with powerful nuke kits. Picking a solid frontline with a Swordmaster and a Fighter can help the Sniper Rogue reach its maximum potential.
Players using this build must watch out for Cryomancers since their slowing curse can be lethal for its repositioning tactics.
4 Scoundrel
Classic Rogue, With Emphasis On Subterfuge
- Strong Points: Versatile, Stealth master
- Weak Points: Squishy, Bad For Direct Confrontations
- Main Stats: Strength, Dexterity
- Secondary Stats: Stamina
Scoundrels specialize in the classic subterfuge gameplay, sneaking behind opponents, hitting them hard with backstab damage and using Quick Concealment to avoid a direct confrontation. With high Damage penetration thanks to its primary Strength Build, the backstab damage caused can potentially delete squishy targets like Priests or Cryomancers, but ideally, the Rogue should always target Pyromancers first.
This build is a little bit squishy, so players can acquire Dragon Scale armor sets, which grant up to 50% damage reduction up to 3 consecutive hits every 60 seconds. It is a good way to mitigate damage if the Rogue ends in an uncomfortable position. The main difficulty of this playstyle is that it is easy for front liners like the Death Knight and Swordmaster to counter stealth using their powerful AoE skills. So watch out for those classes during combat.
The ideal team for the Scoundrel is a Fighter and a Druid since the Fighter can hold strangle points like corridors and doors, and the Druid can help kite or distract opponents, leaving them exposed to backstab damage.
