Dungeonborne is the latest souls-like dungeon crawler that challenges you to beat monsters, traps, and other players before safely extracting your hard-earned loot. With different weapons, attacks, and skills ranging from class to class, you must be quick to mash the correct keys to pull off timely combos. That, however, is only efficient when you are playing with controls you are comfortable with. Here is how to remap your keyboard controls in Dungeonborne if the default settings are proving to be a bit troubling.

Heirlooms are an excellent way to gain a battle advantage in Dungeonborne, but crafting and acquiring them will require a couple of steps to perform.

How to Change Controls and Remap Keys in Dungeonborne

Dungeonborne - Keyboard Controls
You can only change your keyboard controls after completing or skipping the Dungeonborne tutorial.

Dungeonborne has an optional tutorial section that lets you run a small dungeon to understand the basics. It is an excellent opportunity to learn how to attack, use a shield, execute special skills, and most importantly, consume healing items to boost your survival chances. However, for reasons unknown, the tutorial does not allow you to change your controls in Dungeonborne. You need to either complete or skip the tutorial before being able to remap your controls from the campsite.

The tutorial allows you to tinker with your graphics settings. If your PC does not meet the recommended system requirements for Dungeonborne, jump into the tutorial anytime from the main menu to experiment with lower settings.

When you reach the campsite, open the menu screen by pressing Escape or clicking the compass-like icon in the top-left corner. Head into Settings, and you will see a tab for Mouse and Keyboard. Select it to open a range of options to adjust your sensitivity, toggle custom key bindings, and remap controls in Dungeonborne.

Dungeonborne saves a config file that contains all of your settings. It can be found in C:\Users\Your-User-Name\AppData\Local\Dungeonborne\Saved\Config\Windows.

Something else to note, especially for Nvidia users, is that the F1 key cannot be remapped in Dungeonborne, at least not at the time of writing. Pressing F1 pulls up your character list. However, it is also the default key for taking screenshots in the Nvidia GeForce Experience app. This is probably a mistake that should be fixed in future patches. For the time being, you can either remap your screenshot key or grab a screenshot every time you want to switch characters.

Dungeonborne does not officially support controllers. While you can remap your keyboard controls to your controller through Steam, the custom controls fail to work in most cases when playing Dungeonborne.
