A Dungeons and Dragons player has shared an impressive, homemade Lich tower with the tabletop community, and its defining feature involves the tower sinking into the campaign’s map. Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy tabletop RPG that was created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson and first published in 1974. Wizards of the Coast, the Hasbro subsidiary, is currently in charge of publishing duties, and the tabletop has greatly influenced various sectors of pop culture media, including the hit Netflix series, Stranger Things.
Dungeons and Dragons released a brand-new Unearthed Arcana playtest starring eight horror-themed subclasses recently, including options such as the Reanimator Artificer and Hollow Warden Ranger, and there’s plenty more exciting content for fans of the tabletop game to look forward to in 2025.
Dimension 20 Reveals New Steampunk Dungeons and Dragons Campaign
Dimension 20 reveals a brand-new Dungeons and Dragons campaign set in a never-before-seen steampunk universe, airing exclusively on Dropout soon.
Posted on Reddit by NDVermin, a six-second video was shared on the DnD subreddit, showing a stunning brick Lich tower disappearing into the game’s map on a rigged mechanism. The Lich tower, belonging to one of the tabletop’s undead creatures that joins some of Dungeons and Dragons' strongest villains, was created by the DM and designed as a sinking tower to offer a “fun skill challenge” to the party. The Redditor noted they were brainstorming some scenarios on the gaming table, and described how players would be trapped at the bottom of the sinking tower. Each player would then get four rounds to try and travel to the top of the tower and make their escape by jumping through the window.
Dungeons and Dragons Player Builds Sinking Lich Tower Into Campaign Map
The comments section was full of witty banter from fellow D&D players discussing how they would tackle the tower. One player was concerned they would roll a 1 and, unfortunately, disappear forever, and another comment asked if the Lich tower belonged to Avatar: The Last Airbender character, Wan Shi Tong. Liches are undead creatures and spellcasters, serving as one of the earliest creatures introduced in the tabletop game. The race even exists in various other games, including Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetrical horror game, where Dead by Daylight’s Vecna Lich uses powerful builds.
Adding to Dungeons and Dragons’ ongoing content, the popular series Critical Role revealed its first official Daggerheart campaign recently. The ongoing YouTube show, starring voice actors Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, Ashley Johnson, Travis Willingham, Liam O’Brien, Sam Riegel, Marisha Ray, and Taliesin Jaffe, announced its Daggerheart TTRPG would launch on May 20, featuring a new narrative-focused system with Hope and Fear mechanics.
