Dying Light 2: Stay Human has received a new update, labeled the Stamina Patch, which brings major gameplay changes as well as various optimizations. Stamina is an important aspect in Dying Light 2, which dictates what the player can do in terms of traversal and combat.
Over the years, Techland has consistently enhanced Dying Light 2: Stay Human with its big post-launch updates. In its June patch, the Polish studio introduced the UGC event, which focused on user-generated content, and its Balatro crossover to players. A couple of months before that, it had incorporated over two dozen new weapons into the open-world title, per fans' demands. Most recently, it has announced yet another update in line with community feedback, changing how stamina, a key component of the game, works.
Dying Light 2: Best Ranged Weapons, Ranked
Dying Light 2 doesn't really encourage the player to use ranged weapons, but if they need one just in case, these are the best options.
The team behind Dying Light 2: Stay Human recently rolled out Patch 1.24, aka the Stamina Patch, bringing a reworked "core gameplay experience" for players across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. To be more precise, the devs have made certain revisions to the stamina system, with an emphasis on better facilitating evasion. Parkour actions, excluding Dash and Dart, no longer use up any stamina even when it is low. It was noted that this decision was made to make the game "more fluid and enjoyable." While most parkour actions may no longer drain stamina, the devs confirmed that things such as combat, paragliding, and underwater swimming will still rely on stamina levels the same amount that they did before. To avoid interfering with Dying Light 2: Stay Human's mission progression, these changes won't be taken into account during the Pilgrim's Path quest until the player uses an inhibitor in the Markers of Plague quest.
In addition to overhauling the stamina system, Techland devs also delivered a slew of bug fixes and other optimizations with its latest patch. In particular, a bunch of issues in Dying Light 2's Tower Raid game mode were addressed, such as the graphical glitch that affected the Bad Office Day outfit. Notably, the flashlight also received some tweaks, which are evident during the dialogues and main quest cutscenes.
After installing Update 1.24, Dying Light 2 players can choose to rely on Aiden's parkour skills more often now, as opposed to using parkour actions sparingly to conserve stamina. This significant change could afford players a lot more freedom than before and enable them to evade combat and traverse across Villedor better, thanks to the protagonist's virtually endless stamina.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human Update 1.24 Patch Notes
The upcoming patch prioritizes game health, focusing on critical improvements rather than introducing a multitude of new features. Our aim is to enhance overall performance, stability, and player experience, ensuring a smoother and more reliable gameplay environment.
Unlimited Parkour
In this update, we are refining the stamina system to enhance the core gameplay experience, particularly focusing on combat and evasion dynamics. Players will now find that parkour actions no longer deplete stamina, allowing for seamless disengagement from melee combat, even when stamina reserves are low (the only exceptions are the Dash and Dart parkour skills).
This change will make navigation more fluid and enjoyable, positioning stamina primarily as a combat resource. You’ll now have the full freedom to explore Villedor the very moment you enter the city! However, to maintain alignment with the existing mission progression, stamina will still be required for parkour activities from the "Pilgrim's Path" quest — after the player is bitten by a Volatile — until an inhibitor is used near the end of "Markers of Plague". Additionally, stamina will continue to be a crucial resource for combat, underwater swimming, and using the paraglider. This update seeks to balance exploration and combat, ensuring that players can navigate the environment smoothly while managing their stamina during critical gameplay moments.
