Dying Light 2 boasts a huge map and a lot of content to discover. The developers at Techland have claimed that there is up to 500 hours worth of gameplay to discover if one wants to see everything that the game has to offer.

Traversing a map with this kind of scope and depth regarding size and verticality can take a significant amount of time to explore. Whether Techland's claims of immense content can live up to such lofty expectations remains to be seen but Dying Light 2 is a huge game by any definition. One of the best ways to traverse the huge map is by unlocking and using the Paraglider. Just like the UV Flashlight, the game's Paraglider is a Nightrunner tool that is unlocked as part of the story and cannot be missed.

Getting the Paraglider

Once the player has completed the "Lets Waltz" mission and escaped through the Metro system, Aiden will need to make his way to the mission called "A Place to Call Home" to unlock the Paraglider.

Dying Light 2 Lawan

The mission is located at the Central Loop, and Aiden will need to speak to a character - played by The Mandalorian' s Rosario Dawson - named Lawan. She will then hand over the Paraglider, and after a short tutorial, the Paraglider will be Aiden's to use freely.

Using the Paraglider

With the Paraglider in his possession, Aiden can now jump from the top of any building to activate it. The player will be prompted to press the X button on Xbox or the Square button on the PlayStation to deploy it after leaping off, and it works seamlessly with Dying Light 2's Parkour mechanics.

To maintain flight, the player will need to pull back on the L stick to stay in the air. Additionally, there are vents that blow steam dotted around the map that can be used to maintain flight and momentum. These air vents will also replenish Aiden's stamina bar when implemented in flight.

Upgrading The Paraglider

Just like the other Nightrunner tools in the game, the Paraglider can be upgraded at a Craftmaster's stall. It has three upgrades that are available at a cost, and they are described in-game as follows:

  • Upgrade 1: Travel across wide-open gaps and land safely from great heights.
  • Upgrade 2: Increases maneuverability and range, plus adds the ability to increase height in flight.
  • Upgrade 3: Adds the ability to speed.

The Paraglider is a lot of fun to use, but it will take some practice to get the maneuverability perfected. It's also the best way to get around the map in the shortest time possible before the Fast Travel feature is unlocked in Dying Light 2.

Dying Light 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
