During Microsoft's E3 2019 Showcase, a brand new trailer was shown for Techland's Dying Light 2, introducing the new central protagonist Aiden, and confirming that Dying Light 2 will be released in Spring 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Dying Light 2 takes place in the last great human settlement following a viral outbreak that plunged the world into the dark ages, leaving it infested with zombies that roam the world at night. Like the first game, Dying Light 2 features parkour-like gameplay that allows Aiden to maneuver the world unlike anyone else. Techland has designed the sequel to be replayed over and over, placing a larger emphasis on decision-making during story missions and side quests that will affect the open-world.

The new trailer offers a glimpse at what has happened to society in Dying Light 2 following a viral outbreak that tore the world apart. It's revealed that Aiden himself is infected and that he is determined to not let survival be the essence of humanities existence. "The virus tore society apart, but I won't let it turn me into an animal," said a hooded Aiden staring over a burning city.

Prior to the beginning of E3, it was announced that Square Enix would be partnering with Techland to distribute Dying Light 2 in the Americas and that the game would be featured during their showcase on Monday. As Microsoft only featured a short trailer, it's likely that Square Enix will show off a full gameplay demo this time around.

Dying Light 2 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in Spring 2020.
