  • 2025 promises new updates for Dying Light 2 and the release of Dying Light: The Beast.

Techland has recently released the Hotfix Version 1.22.4 update for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. This new patch for Dying Light 2: Stay Human fixes multiple bugs that still plagued the game, improving the overall experience, but not adding new content to the title.

The original Dying Light was released back in 2015, and it was a big hit, selling over 20 million units over the years. The success led to the release of Dying Light 2: Stay Human in 2022. Despite Dying Light 2 not being as huge a hit as its predecessor, the title still sold over 5 million copies, and Techland has been doing a good job of supporting the title since then.

Dying Light 1 & 2: Why You Should Start Over in 2025

Ten years after the original game was released, and three years since the sequel, 2025 is a great time to revisit the Dying Light franchise games.

Now, Techland has officially released the new Hotfix Version 1.22.4 update for Dying Light 2, which is a small patch. The update focuses mostly on fixing issues, correcting some annoying problems, such as references to a non-existent symbol on the HUD widget, problems with the Tower Raid board, players not losing lives when playing in the Co-Op mode, blueprints lacking item details, and more. This will be a fairly helpful update for gamers playing Tower Raid in Dying Light 2, a roguelike-inspired mode that was recently added and still needed a few tweaks. The update also fixes a problem specific to the Steam Deck, where some dialogues had an overlap with the item selector.

The new patch comes on the heels of Update 1.22 for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, which was much larger than the current one. The mid-April update introduced 27 new weapons to the game, including three new Elemental Pistols, and improvements to several aspects of the zombie apocalypse title, as well as Co-Op and Tower Raid modes. Apart from these additions, dozens of bugs were fixed.

Overall, 2025 is going to be a big year for the Dying Light franchise. Earlier this year, Techland revealed an ambitious roadmap for Dying Light in 2025, which highlighted the most anticipated news for the franchise’s fans. The roadmap includes an upcoming summer event which still does not have an official name, another major update during the Fall, and two major events during Halloween and Christmas, for example. Aside from this seasonal content for Dying Light 2, 2025 will see the release of Dying Light: The Beast, the eagerly awaited new game in the popular franchise, which will hopefully be an exciting addition for fans who want a more horror-focused experience.

It’s been 20 years since the events of the original game. The virus won, and humanity is slowly dying. You play as Aiden Caldwell, a wandering Pilgrim who delivers goods, brings news, and connects the few remaining survivor settlements in barren lands devastated by the zombie virus. However, your true goal is to find your little sister Mia, who you left behind as a kid to escape Dr. Waltz's torturous experiments. Haunted by the past, you eventually make the decision to confront it when you learn that Mia may still be alive in Villedor — the last city standing on Earth.

You quickly find yourself in a settlement torn by conflict. You’ll need to engage in creative and gory combat, so hone your skills to defeat hordes of zombies and make allies. Roam the city, free run across Villedor’s buildings and rooftops in search of loot in remote areas, and be wary of the night. With every sunset, monsters take control of the streets.
