Dying Light 2 has launched a new crossover with The Walking Dead, bringing the two zombie franchises together. Dying Light 2 is a game set in an apocalyptic world full of zombies, a theme it shares with The Walking Dead.
It's hard not to know The Walking Dead thanks to the immensely popular television series based on Robert Kirkman's comic book. In addition to The Walking Dead's fame in the comics and the main TV series, the franchise has gained several spin-offs and adaptations in other media. Dying Light 2, meanwhile, is an open-world game from Techland with a focus on parkour platforming and melee combat.
Dying Light 2 recently launched a new crossover with The Walking Dead to celebrate 20 years of the massive franchise. The collaboration with The Walking Dead was announced earlier this month, and is part of the Summer of Horrors, a series of events, crossovers, and updates that Dying Light 2 will host until September. During the event, Dying Light 2 players will have seven challenges to complete, one per day from July 26 to August 2, that reward comic book covers. Players who collect all the comic book covers will get a weapon charm that resembles Rick Grimes' sheriff's hat. A separate set of weekly challenges will be available from July 26 to August 2, where those who take down 850 enemies will receive the blueprint for Lucille, Negan's infamous barbed-wire baseball bat. If the Dying Light 2 community reaches the goal of killing a total of 160 million enemies, all players will receive a wearable version of Rick's hat.
The collaboration between Dying Light 2 and The Walking Dead has also brought a new bundle to the game's store. In this pack, Rick Grimes' suit, Negan's knife, Lucille, Michonne's katana and the respective blueprints, and a themed paraglider, are available.
While this is one of the most famous crossovers hosted by Techland's game, this is not the game's first collab. Previously, Dying Light 2 collaborated with Call of Juarez in an event that brought two Techland games together.
Earlier this year Techland revealed the 2023 roadmap for Dying Light 2 and announced the arrival of several improvements and new content. Among the new features was the Dying Light 2 update released last month to improve the nighttime experience. But there's more in store for Dying Light 2 players, including a DLC with new locations, weapons, and story.
Dying Light 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
